My life might be in danger. I still can't wrap my head around that. Besides the fact that what I thought was an ordinary accident may not be an accident at all. Nate paces around the room and tugs on his hair. I try to get up my head is pounding at this point.

"I'm calling my father and telling him he has to take over the conference."

I don't care how bad my head pounds I get up and go to him. I rest my hand on his forearm. "Babe, you said that this is a big deal." He stops and grabs a hold of my shoulders and takes a deep breath, closing his eyes.

"Nothing is more important than you Cass...nothing." He pulls me into a hug and buries his face in my neck planting a gentle kiss there.

"I will have security keeping an eye on her. Whether she is here or back home." My uncle states and I have no doubt that he will have the best there for me.

Nate shakes his head but looks at Hunter. "How close are you to nailing this bastard?" He pulls me into him and hugs me tightly.

"We are getting close. That's why I need to go over these files with you Cassie." I step out of Nate's embrace and look at Hunter.

"Why me?"

"You might notice something off with these numbers. I just want to make sure that I am correct, but it is your call."

I nod my head as Nate grabs his phone and looks at me. I nod my head at him and right now I feel like a damn bobblehead with all the nodding I am doing. He walks over to other side of the office and calls his father. I would go to protest again but the man is so damn stubborn. Nothing I say will change his mind. I stare at him and just hold the folder in my hands. I look down at the folder until I hear him.

"Fucking hell! For once I wish you would listen to me!"

"If you make me choose. I will choose Cass every damn time."

I feel my face flush and I look at my uncle who smiles proudly at Nate. He puts his back pocket and runs his hands through his hair.

"Fuck!" I rush over to him and wrap my arms around him. Whatever his dad said is definitely not good. I feel him kiss the top of my head and sigh. "It's okay Cass, it's just my father being well you know, my father." I squeeze him to me again and he chuckles as I pull back to look up at him. "He's just being his narcissistic asshole-self." He smiles down at me and kisses my nose. "Guess I will be opening up my own business sooner rather than later." He grabs my hand as we walk back over to my uncle and Hunter.

"You dropped these." Hunter hands me the file and I open it up and look at the documents inside. Nate guides me over to the sofa to sit down as I keep scanning the documents. I am so engrossed into see if there is something missing, I do not see the food until Nate waves it in my face. When I look up, I see Amanda handing food out.

"Thank you." She smiles at us and see that Hunter looks at her a little longer than normal. Oh, there is something definitely going on there.

"If you need anything else just let me know."

My uncle nods as she exits the room, but I do not miss the brush of her and Hunter's hand. I go to take a bite of my food when I spot something and slam the papers down on the table. All eyes are on me and I look at my uncle.

"This account is off. It's the McKenna account. I worked on this a few weeks back. The thing is that McKenna is not the main benefactor on the papers here, but they were when I looked into it before. I remember because their profit margin was better than the year before." I get up and walk over to my uncle's desk. "Can you open the email I sent over to you Uncle Jeff." He walks over and brings up the email with the file.
