"He said they were on the way?"

"Yes ma'am. Maya just got off the phone with them. Stop panicking, everything will be fine."

My mom leaned against the rails of the porch, waiting for the surprise party to get started.

We were able to decorate the entire backyard, the outside furniture, and the porch for her birthday. The twins were in charge of picking up the cake while we finished prepping the food and decorating.

It was really beautiful. I couldn't wait to see how Ms. Linda reacts to everything.

The gray Nissan we were anticipating finally pulled into the driveway as my mom clapped in relief.

"They're hereeee. We still have time to put the cake on the table and add her cake topper."

"We have plenty of time mom, please calm down. You did a good job."

"I know I just want this to be perfect for her. Linda deserves this celebration."

"She does and you helped make this happen so calm down before you pop a vein."

Mom laughed, "You're right. Thanks my little voice of reason."

"Anytime," I smiled.

After fixing up the decorations that were hanging on the tables outside, Rafael walked into the backyard and stood below the porch, holding the cake box.

"Special delivery for a special party."

My mom leaned over the rail to see if it was the correct box before walking down to meet him.

"Come this way honey. You can put the cake right next to the cupcakes and I'll handle the rest."

Rafael looked her up and down as she stood in front of him, admiring the tope leather pants she wore complimented by a white turtleneck and thigh-high boots.

"You know if you ever need someone to carry your cake Ms. Sasha, I'm here for you."

My mom rubbed his cheek, "Rafael, I have Christian Louboutin's older than you son."

"Good,"he grinned, "I'd love to see them one day."

I laughed at his attempt to flirt as my mother rolled her eyes at his jokes.

"Let's go loverboy."

Watching from the deck, mom escorted Rafael to the round table we set up earlier. It had a few other dessert but the biggest concern was the cake because the twins were taking a long time to get back from the caterer.

Javier came up the stairs to the porch, holding a car seat with a blanket wrapped around it. As if she could smell the car seat aroma, my mom scurried up the steps to meet the bundle of joy.

"Oh my gosh, who's baby is this," my mom cooed as he placed the carrier on the couch by the door.

He smiled, "This is Gia. My little girl."

Javier moved the blanket so we could see the little princess underneath the covering. She was cuddled up beside a stuffed unicorn fast asleep.

"She's beautiful Javier." I smiled.

"Thank you. That's my world right there."

"I can see why," mom smiled, "she looks just like you."

"Thank you Ms. Sasha. If y'all would excuse me, I'm gonna go change her in the guest house so my mom doesn't hear her whine. I'll be right back."
