Next Morning
I rubbed my eyes as I watched the sun try to peak through my darkened curtains. Luckily they were blackout's but that didn't stop the sun from shining through the few cracks that were exposed.
The thoughts clouding my mind were interrupted by slight snores. My eyes flickered from the curtain to the sleeping beauty on my right. I smiled, admiring her in a peaceful state.
I don't think I've expressed enough how lucky I am.
Mila coming over last night filled a big hole in my heart and I'm glad that we got the chance to clear the air. I get it, she was disappointed in me.
But I didn't think things would go that far. The last thing I wanted was for Mila to despise me for what I did with Dinah and never see me the same again.
Knowing that she's fine with it and understanding of how I felt showed me just how sympathetic she is. I couldn't help but feel even more guilt.
I expected her to curse me out or to give me the cold shoulder until she felt ready to talk. She really surprised me by accepting the truth and my apology.
My phone buzzed and I quickly grabbed it from my nightstand. I checked the notification and sighed, reading the text that already put a damper on my day.
Lauren
Anger management session is at three o'clock this afternoon but I need you to come in sooner if you're not workingI placed the phone back onto my nightstand after I responded to her message. Since I was feeling like shit after the trip, I cancelled all of my meet-ups with Lauren and told her I was sick.
I doubt she believed me but she wasn't pressing the issue. My attention turned to the clock beside my phone as it glowed red with the current time: 8:57 AM
As much as I hated what I was about to do, I knew that it was necessary.
I rubbed Mila's back as she slightly stirred in her sleep, not waking up entirely.
"Mila you gotta get up. You've got work in a bit."
Nothing. I rubbed her back a little more and she turned her head to me, groaning at my actions.
"Whatttttt. Why are you waking me up?"
"Because you've got work soon. Nine-thirty is around the corner."
"I'm full-time now remember? I have until ten thirty. Now let me sleep."
"Mama's your clothes aren't here and neither is your work stuff. I hate to wake you up but I've got to."
"Noooooo, just ten more minutes. I'm exhausted."
"You should've went to sleep then."
Her eyes gradually opened as she glared at me in irritation. "I would've went to sleep on time if you weren't so hell-bent on touching on me."
I smiled as her little attitude amused me. "So? You're grown. You could've said no."
"Go to hell, you know I said no too many times for me to even remember."
"Oh that's what you were screaming out.....whoops."
Mila smacked my bare arm as I fell over in a fit of laughter. "Even in the early mornings you're an asshole."
