"Okay Thomas I've filed the paperwork you needed for the Larkin case, called and scheduled a meeting with their CEO, and now I'm about to head down to the copier to grab the rest of your papers from the deposition."
"Gosh what would I do without you."
I chuckled, handing him the folder full of documents he needed. "I don't know. You'd probably have to make that trip to the copier all by yourself."
"Such a stroll."
"It is," we laughed. "You need anything else while I'm gone?"
"Actually I wanted to know how much more you have on your hands for the rest of the day."
"Well I'm only helping you this week so we can get things done for the case but other than that, I'm free after I grab the papers from the copier. What do you need me to do?"
"Well it's not what I need you to do. I have a surprise more or less."
"Thomas," I glared.
"Hear me out." He stood up from the desk and buttoned up his suit jacket, grabbing three folders from his desk drawer. "I have something here that you may be interested in."
I raised a skeptical eyebrow, "I'm listening."
Thomas sat on the edge of his desk and held the multi-colored folders out for me to grab.
"Here. Read these."
"Thomas all of our company folders are orange, what are these?"
"Just take a look before you turn it down. I know you're contemplating your journey to law school and I thought I could help out."
I looked down at the folders as they all had different colors and names on the front:
Rutgers
University of South Carolina
Howard University
I was confused as to why Thomas would give me folders from these three universities. I knew I was considering going back to school but what was he getting at?
"What are these Thomas?"
"These are just a few law schools that are highly-regarded at this firm. Most of our associates went to these very institutions."
"But what does that have to do with me?"
".....Look, I knew you were a bit hesitant to look into law schools and I thought that I could help you in your search for the perfect one."
"By printing out admissions packets?"
"Admissions packets?" He laughed. Thomas stood up from the desk and began walking to his door. "Follow me."
"Thomas-"
"Come on, this will only take a second."
We walked out of the room and headed down the hallway towards the conference rooms where we held our meetings.
We walked near one and stopped mid-way. Thomas placed his hand on my shoulder, pointing to the conferences rooms that had a singular individual sitting inside.
"You see that woman dressed in that scarlet dress?"
I nodded, "Yes sir."
"Well, she may or may not be the top admissions officer at Rutgers University School of Law."
My eyes widened as I looked at him in disbelief. "Are you serious?"
"Deadly. She's here to give you some insight about the program and may be willing to give you an interview in the next fifteen minutes. That is if you're up for it."
