"It cant be ShadowClan! Are you sure?" Dustclaw asked. Silverpaw felt pure fear and rage burn within her. "I'm sure! The scent's there-- Foxpaw smells it too!" she yowled. Mistpelt sniffed the ground."They're right. The scent is there." she meowed to Hawkwing and Dustclaw. Hawkwing looked very worried. "Let's see where the trail leads us." he said.
They all began to follow the scent. It only got stronger and stronger. "Look over there." Runningpaw whispered. Hawkwing looked up and gasped. "Quick hide behind the gorse."
Silverpaw leapt into the gorse with them and squinted through the undergrowth. She saw a group of ShadowClan cats walking across the moor. Leading them was a ginger tom with a torn ear and ragged fur. It was Russetstar."They're heading for the camp." Dustclaw growled. The ShadowClan cats dissapeared from view and Silverpaw sat up. She saw Mistpelt turned to face her. "Silverpaw, Runningpaw!" Mistpelt meowed. "You have to go warn Brightstar!"
Hawkwing looked at Mistpelt and hissed. "Why them!? They could get hurt!" He was clearly worried Silverpaw would get hurt. "They're the fastest!" Mistpelt retorted. "Go hurry!"Silverpaw took a moment to process wbat was going on. She had to go-- now! She scrambled to her paws and she and Runningpaw shot forward and raced for the camp. Silverpaw felt the wind roaring in her ears. Runningpaw was right next to her, gasping for breath. "Look we're almost there!" he suddenly shouted. They burst through the bramble entrance. Brightstar was at the front of his den with Crowclaw. Runningpaw raced towards his father. "Brightstar! Me, Silverpaw, and the patrol saw a ShadowClan patrol, and their heading to the camp!"
Brightstar immediately leapt to his paws. "I had a feeling that they would do this!" he yowled. He began yelling orders to the warriors. The entire camp was bustling with cats helping others to safety or surrounding the camp for defense. Suddenly Hawkwing and the patrol shot through the entrance. Foxpaw was shaking. "They're almost here!" Hawkwing meowed, his voice shaking. Crowclaw was still ordering cats to the front of camp. "Silverpaw, Runningpaw, Foxpaw, get to the front!"
Silverpaw nodded. "Come on guys." she mewed. My first battle, she thought. I won't let my Clan down. Im no kitty-pet. I'll prove it. Foxpaw and Runningpaw followed her to the front of camp. Runningpaw's pelt was fluffed out, but his yellow eyes were wide with fear. Suddenly there was a yowl. Silverpaw looked up, to see the ginger pelt of Russetstar and his patrol.
After a few moments of silence Brightstar padded to the front of the line. The wind ruffled his fur as he spoke. "Russetstar, I suggest you turn back now." he growled. Russetstar let out a menacing snarl. "Why should I prey-stealers!"
Brightstar's pelt was bristling, and his green eyes were blazing with fury. "You know that's a lie," Brightstar yowl. "If its lies then how are we lacking in prey!" Russetstar yowled. Silverpaw could see the Shadow Clan leader shaking with rage. His ears were laid back and he moved forward slowly. "You, Brightstar, are the liar and theif." The Wind Clan leader stood tall his eyes gleaming. "If we are the prey-stealers, show me proof. Or does your sorry lot of kitty-pets not have any." Russetstar let out a yowl of rage and lunged at Brightstar. He turned to his warrior and have his command.
"ShadowClan attack!"
At that moment warriors from both clans sprang forward. Silverpaw sprang into battle. A ragged gray apprentice charged in front of her. "Mouse-heart!" spat Silverpaw. She leapt on the toms back and scored her claws across his flank. The Shadow Clan apprentice yowled and writhed beneath her. Silverpaw jumped off of him and he raced away howling. She turned to look at what was going on. Every cat was locked into combat. She saw a few ShadowClan cats attempting to head for the camp but they were stopped by Leaffur and Hawkwing. Everything swirled around her, it was so much to take in.
Silverpaw saw a Shadow Clan she-cat trying to go for the camp but she charged at her. The she-cat snapped at her, trying to grab Silverpaw's tail in her jaws. Silverpaw rolled under her and as the Shadow Clan she-cat looked down she raked her claws across her eye and across her soft stomach. The she-cat yowled and knocked her away, blood dripping down her face.
Just as she had gotten to her paws Silverpaw suddenly felt something tackle her to the ground. She let out a yowl of surprise and looked up. It was the sand colored apprentice that called her and Foxpaw kittypets. "You!" Silverpaw screeched. The apprentice raked his claws down her side. "Take that kitty-pet!" Silverpaw swung her claws at his face but the tom only pushed her face into the ground. "Is that how you fight kitty-pet!? I thought this would be hard!"
Silverpaw shut her eyes as the tom was about to rake his claws across her muzzle but she suddenly felt the weight if the other cat dissapear. She opened her eyes and there was a flash of gray fur. It was Stormpaw! He had pinned the ShadowClan apprentice to the ground. "Leave our camp and Silverpaw alone crow-food!" Stormpaw spat. He let the apprentice go, and he ran away yowling. "Thanks." Silverpaw gasped. She felt blood trickle down her side. She saw that Stormpaw's eyes were filled with triumph. "Anyti-"
Before he could finish a black ShadowClan tom knocked him over and pinned him. "Let him go!" Silverpaw hissed, as she raced towards the massive tom. She caught hold of his shoulder and sank her teeth into it. The tom yowled and used his claws to drag Silverpaw off of him. She felt him swing her onto the grass. "No!" she yowled. She scrambled to her paws to facr him. But, the dark warrior had dissapeared, and all Silverpaw saw was the gray body of Stormpaw lying on the ground.
"No... No, no, no!" she scrambled over to her friend and dragged him away from the fray. She frantically prodded him trying to get Stormpaw to respond. He had a gash in his side and blood was pooling around his shoulder. "Stormpaw... get up." Silverpaw said as she nudged him. He only remained still. Silverpaw could hardly hear the screeching cats around her. Everything blurred and all she could see was a limp form of Stormpaw. She hardly noticed the yowl from Russetstar. "ShadowClan retreat!"
She shook her head slowly. She felt her wounds sting as she looked around. Some of her Clan-mates we're chasing off the remaining Shadow Clsn cats, others were standing helping the injured. Silverpaw felt sheer horror at what had just taken place. She looked down and frantically nudged the gray apprentice again. "Please get up Stormpaw." Moonpaw pleaded.
"Stormpaw..."
Silverpaw turned to see Runningpaw staring at his brother lying on the floor. Silverpaw felt shame as Runningpaw scrambled towards her and Stormpaw. The black and white tom looked at her. "He's okay... Isn't he?"
"He... He's gone."

Hi everyone. Sorry that some cat went to StarClan. The way the story goes, there was bound to be a battle soon. And believe me, I hate battles in the Warrior Cat books, but cats have teeth and claws for a reason. I still hope you liked the chapter!
