The clan surrounded the four new warriors, congratulating them all the while. Moonheart felt her heart pounding with excitement. I'm a warrior, she repeated over and over in her mind. Soon the crowd spread across camp murmuring to one another.

"Don't forget you must sit vigil tonight." a voice mewed. Moonheart turned around to see Rosecloud padding towards her. "I will Rosecloud!" she meowed happily. She and her old mentor touched noses. "Thank you, for teaching me so much." Moonheart whispered. Rosecloud nodded. "I knew you would make a fine young warrior." she murmured back, her amber eyes gleaming with pride.

Runningstorm suddenly padded over. "Do you want to go run on the moor with me and the others? W-we could have a race." he stammered. Moonheart smiled and nodded. "Sure I'll be right there." she mewed shyly. Runningstorm smiled back. "Okay. We'll be outside of camp." he meowed.

Moonheart looked back at Rosecloud. "Can I go with them?" she inquired. Rosecloud let out a small mrroww of laughter. "Yes, you may." Moonheart's heart have a small leap of excitement, and she raced towards the camp entrance. Runningstorm, Foxfang, and Sunflower, were already outside waiting for her.

"Where should we have that race?" Sunflower queried. Moonheart shrugged, so did Runningstorm. "Wait I know a place!" Foxfang exclaimed. "We could go to the place where we used to run laps! That would be a great place for a race!" Everyone meowed in agreement and headed for the sand clearing.
Moonheart saw out of the corner of her eye, Runningstorm trying to catch her eye. "Moonheart?" he called softy. She looked up. "Yes?" Runningstorm padded closer to her until his tail entwined with her's. "Remember our first race here?" he asked gently. Moonheart suddenly remembered when she and Runningstorm had been fierce competitors, and he had always taunted her about her unknown origins. But during their first race, they had both befriended one another that day.

"Yes, I remember. It was the same day we tied in the race!" she mewed. Runningstorm's eyes gleamed for a moment, and his fur felt hot with embarrassment. "I would have beaten you- I just got distracted!" he hissed playfully. Moonheart laughed and cuffed him over the ear. "Your so silly." she whispered, as she pressed against his fur.

Soon they all reached the sandy clearing. "Ok, lets start the race!" Sunflower yelled excitedly. Foxfang was already standing next to the starting bush, his tail waving in the air. "Ok.... Ready," began Moonheart mewed. "Set... go!!!!"

The four young warriors sprang forward, tails streaming out behind them. Moonheart was already in the lead, Runningstorm a tail-length behind her. "Try and catch me dog-breath!" she shouted over her shoulder. "No, you try and outrun me!" he shouted back. Moonheart watched as Runningstorm shot forward and a moment later Sunflower next to him. Moonheart gathered her energy and began picking up her pace, she passed Foxfang and Sunflower, and she flew past Runningstorm. She made the turn and raced across the last few yards.

"I won!" Moonheart shouted as the other fell in around her. Sunflower's fur has been ruffled in all directions, Foxfang and Runningstorm looked as if they hadn't groomed in a whole moon cycle. "Well, at least my fur isn't covered in sand." Foxfang joked. Moonheart licked the sand of her shoulders and tail. "There, it isn't that bad now."she mewed. Runningstorm grinned at her. "Well that was a fair race wasn't it." Moonheart nodded. "Wow the sun is already setting!" Sunflower exclaimed. "We should head back to camp then we have to sit vigil." Foxfang meowed.

By the time they got back to camp everyone was already heading for their dens for a good night sleep. Brightstar was waiting for them. "Alright now stay here, your vigil will be over at sunrise." Moonheart nodded so did everyone else. Moonheart looked at the stary night sky as Runningstorm sat beside her. "The stars are almost as beautiful as you are." he whispered to Moonheart. "Thanks Runningstorm..." Moonheart whispered as their tails entwined once more, as they sat vigil together.
