After what felt like years, Mizu, Yellow, Crystal, Zola, and Amy have finally arrived at the Indigo League; the trio had signed up to be in the tournament where they are hoping to prove who is the best out of them and who would be the best to face their father. The Indigo League will have a few rounds before the quarter-finals and the semi-finals before the main finals. The past week had been rough, but they made it through the first three rounds individually. Mizu was unhappy that she had to face some of her father's old friends who betrayed him, but with each round, she took out Barry, Cameron, Drew, Trip, and Tobias. Mizu would be happy that she had killed the ones who betrayed her father and avenged him; it was the same story with Yellow and Crystal. They both had taken down the remaining traitors, Cilan, Harrison, Morrison, Paul, and Ritchie.
The only one from their father's past they didn't face was Zoey, as she wasn't on the list to face them unless she made it to one of the finals. With each passing day, it became fewer and fewer trainers who were sad to lose but happy they took part in the League. On the final day before the quarter-finals, it was a match between Crystal and Zoey, who managed to get through without sweat. Their battle was long, but by the end, Crystal lost. Yellow, Mizu, Zola, and Amy, congrats to Crystal for making it so far in her first league. Once they leave the arena, they are met by their mothers. "Don't worry, Crystal. Your father and I are very proud of you," Misty said as she approached her daughter and hugged her. Crystal still had tears in her eyes, and Misty wiped them away. "What's wrong, Crystal?." Yellow said, feeling concerned for her sister.
"I...I wanted to be in the quarter or semi-finals, then take over the gym for Mother...But that plan is a bust." she said as Misty showed a blushed face and smiled at her. "Sweetie, you just need to ask," she said. Then suddenly, Ask came up behind Crystal, picked her up, and placed her over his shoulders, hearing the giggles and small laughter. "Haha...Dad, I'm too old for this," she said as she enjoyed the sudden surprise. "It got you smiling and laughing," he said, then he put her back down and stood back up. "Your mother is right, Crystal. You just need to ask, and we'll let you take over," he said with a reassuring smile, and Misty stood next to him, showing the same smile. Crystal then looks up to her Mother. "Could I be in charge of the gym? It's my dream to take over it and be the best water-type Pokemon training." Crystal said with a smile on her face. Even Misty couldn't say no. Misty sighed and looked at her husband. "She has your puppy smile," she said, which made Ash and the others laugh. Then Misty looked at Crystal again. "Of course you can. Once we are finished here, you are the new Gym leader, but I retake charge whenever you aren't well or are out on an adventure again," she said. Then Crystal smiled again and nodded.
That said, everyone returned to their hotel and prepared for another few days of battling until the finals. In Zoey's room, she was planning out her Pokemon and wondering what ones to use in battle against her opponents; in a different hotel room, Mizu and Yellow are planning out their Pokemon with Crystal's help as they want to make sure that Zoey doesn't go through to the finals and one of them will. The next few days were hell for Yellow and Mizu as they tried their best not to be kicked out of the League. They had a few close calls in their battles, but they got through them with the support of their friends and family. It is now the last day of the quarter-finals as only four trainers are left, and it is fate and luck for whoever faces the elite four in the semi-finals; Yellow ended up against Brock's son Platinum. Their match was the longest in the League's history, but the winner was Yellow.
Mizu had to face Zoey, her father's last traitor friend. It was a long six vs. six battle, but with their hearts and souls of the fight and each Pokemon being used, Mizu had awakened Zoey's once kind heart from its icy tomb, "Macechu use One-Thousand THUNDERBOLT!." Mizu said as Macechu charged up its attack. A black cloud hovered above them, and a mighty three-forked thunderbolt zapped from the sky, knocking down Zoey's one last Pokemon, ending this fight. Zoey accepted her defeat, returned her Pokemon to its ball, and then walked away, feeling she had much to think about. Meanwhile, Yellow and Crystal rushed up to their sister, tackling her to the ground as they laughed. "We knew you'd make it," Yellow said, and then Zola and Amy came up and congratulated Mizu for getting to the quarter-finals.
The next day, Mizu and Yellow got ready for the big day, as only one would make it to the semi-finals to face the Elite Four. With everything all set, Mizu and Yellow wished each other luck and hoped they faced each other in the finals. Mizu took on a trainer named Azora. She is a Pokemon fairy collector and plans to be the number one Fairy-type Pokemon Master. With their battle on the way, it was a tough match for Mizu as she was already down to her last three Pokemon, and Azora had only four left. While their battle is going on, Yellow is having a more challenging time with a Steel-type trainer named Serenity, planning the same goal as Azora's but with different Pokemon types.
With their battles finally finished, Mizu and Yellow went back to the locker rooms to see who would win the chance to fight the Elite Four, but the finals didn't start until tomorrow, and Mizu and Yellow looked at their family. "Er...Family day out?." they both said in unison. "Well, after everything in this tournament, I guess we could have a day out," May said as she reassured them they would have a day out. The girls were excited and rushed back to their hotel room to get washed and changed after battling for half of the day. "I feel like I regret that choice," May said while rubbing the back of her head. "Well, they do take after us," Dawn said. Then she and May glanced at each other and laughed, knowing it was true.
A few hours later, Mizu and Yellow finally rejoined with their family and friends, but they looked confused about a new person with them. "Wonder who that is?." Mizu said, then Yellow shrugged at her sister, "It looks kinda like that Zoey woman." Yellow said once they got closer, they were right on their guess. Once the girls came up to them, they looked bewildered, then Misty spoke up, "Mizu, Yellow, I know you both don't like our old friends, but Zoey came to us an hour ago and wished forgiveness from us." she said which both sisters showed concern on their faces not sure to trust Zoey. "Mizu...Yellow...I have done the most terrible thing to your father; he showed me kindness and friendship...And I threw that back in his face. I already asked for your family's forgiveness. I am now asking you to forgive me and give me a chance." she said as Zoey was sitting on her legs and bowed face first to the ground, waiting to see what they would say. Both Mizu and Yellow glanced at each other and gave serious thought. "Just like our father, we believe in second chances, Zoey," Yellow said, and Mizu nodded in agreement. Zoey looked up and had tears in her eyes, so she hugged them.
With Zoey being forgiven and rejoined in Ash's fold, they spent the day together, knowing they would have a good friendship with Zoey once more. As the day passed, the group returned to their hotel, where the ultimate battle against siblings would begin tomorrow. "I'm super annoyed. My two sisters are going up against each other, and I don't know who to root for." says an annoyed Crystal, sitting on her bed with her elbows on her lap and her chin on her hands. Mizu and Yellow can't help but feel sorry for her, but then Yellow's mother, Dawn, chimes in. "Then don't root for any of them. Just be happy that one of them made it and the other didn't," she said, trying to help out Crystal and cheer her up. "I suppose you're right, Mama Dawn," she said. Then she just got into bed and got ready for tomorrow.
Dawn then looked at Yellow and Mizu. "Mizu, head towards your mother's room. Yellow, you come with me," she said as the two siblings looked at each other with puzzling looks. "Okay." they both said in unison. Mizu asked Macechu to stay with Crystal since she would be alone, and Macechu nodded as it didn't mind staying behind; once both girls had entered their mother's rooms, they explained that they needed to pick out different Pokemon as they both knew each other too well. "That's a great idea, Mom. We do know each other too well." they both said in unison from different rooms. They spent an hour picking out their new Pokemon, but they both passed out sleeping in their Mom's room. Dawn and May tucked their daughters in their beds, locked up their rooms, slipped their room keys under the door and went to their room for the night. "I hope they both don't take it too seriously," Dawn said, then May chimed in, just coming from the other direction from Dawn. "I agree. They tend to battle way too hard on each other," she said. Then, they both entered their daughter's room and spent the night there.
