ELLIE WAS IN HER ROOM when Sarah barged in. "Bro, you gotta hear this" Sarah spoke as she threw herself onto Ellie's bed.

"What?" Ellie furrowed her eyebrows.

"I was on my boat this morning, alright"

"Si" Ellie said as a way of allowing the girl to continue with her story, eating crackers that she had.

"And saw John B trying to steal scuba gear from me" Sarah said as Ellie's eyebrows furrowed.

"John Booker Routledge?" Ellie asked, eating the rest of her cracker, making a loud crunch.

"Ja" Sarah said, saying yes in Germen as she stole one of Ellie's crackers, plopping it into her mouth, chewing it.

"Why was he trying to steal scuba gear?" Ellie asked with her eyebrows still furrowed.

Sarah shrugged. "Wouldn't tell me."

"Huh. Werid" Ellie said, grabbing another cracker.

"Are these saltine crackers?" Sarah asked.

"Mhm"

"Huh, they are good. I could eat these all day" Sarah said, eating one after another.

"Yeah. Have you seen Avery? I'm really worried about her. I haven't seen her since the kegger." Ellie asked.

"No. I haven't. I'm sure she's fine though. She probably just got drunk at blacked out, you know, normal Avery." Sarah said with a shrug, taking a bite out of the corner of the saltine cracker.

Ellie nodded. "Have you talked to Topper? After his dumb childish behavior?"

Sarah sighed. "No, and I don't want to. I've had alot of time to think about it and....as much as he doesn't want to hear this. He was in the wrong. After John B broke it up with him and JJ he didn't have to yell dirty pouges. He chose to do that. Now he deals with the consequences"

"Period" Ellie spoke, her voice muffled from the cracker in her mouth as her and Sarah high-fived.

Elizabeth then walked into the room. "Ellie, honey. Oh, Sarah's here. Hi dear"

"Hi Miss Thompson" Sarah said with a slight nod.

"Umm..could I talk with Ellie please? Alone" Elizabeth asked, her top teeth biting down on her bottom lip.

"Mhm, yeah, of course" Sarah said as she walked out of the room.

Elizabeth closed the door and turned to Ellie, seeing her mean glare. "What?" Elizabeth asked.

"What do you want?" Ellie asked with a shrug and a smug look.

"I would like a conversation with my daughter"

"I would like to eat food before the expiration date, but hey, we don't always get what we want" Ellie said with her smug look, disgust steaming over her face when Elizabeth sat down on the corner of her bed.

"After your dad died. I lost my spark. And I pushed everyone away. And I know you did aswell. What I'm saying is, it's not good to push me away. I'm the only parent you have left. When I die, you'll have nobody to look up too Ellie, so please. Let me in" Elizabeth begged the girl.

Ellie's eyes began glossy as she looked down. "I don't want to mom" Her voice broke. "But you leave me no choice. Your always gone, I'm always alone. I want to spend time with you but, you care more about the guys you bring home then me!" Ellie said through sad quiet sobs as she tried not to cry so loud that Sarah could hear.

"Oh...honey...I-" Elizabeth paused. "I put so much focus on myself and my problems that I...I never stopped to think about yours. And, I'm sorry."

"It's fine. What did you want to talk about?" Ellie asked, changing the topic so she could stop crying.
