I was sleeping after a tiring night shift at the hospital. It was around 9 am when my cousin Naina, a 21-year-old studying physics, barged into my room with a loud entrance.

She cheerfully said, "Rise and shine, Mehu Didi!"

"Oh no! Again, I forgot to lock the door," I sighed,

I tried to shush her, saying,
"Go away, Naina. Don't ruin my mood early in the morning."

She asked, "What do you mean?" with a playful tone, not taking my grumpy response seriously.

I insisted, "Just leave, sis. I need more sleep."

But Naina, full of energy, continued to tease me.
"Mood kharab? Never for too long, Didi. We're starting the day with energy!"

(Bad mood? Not for too long, sister. We're starting the day with energy!)

As I buried my head deeper into the pillow, attempting to recapture the fleeting tendrils of rest, Naina continued her morning banter.

Naina threw her directing prowess with a casual "Suru kar," urging someone to get things rolling.

Then, in a hilarious twist, her brother Shivam, the 18-year-old , higher secondary exams had just finished, chimed in with unexpected grandeur, "Aaj subah, din pe hamari pyaari Didi iss dharti pe padarpan ki thi aur is sansar ko khushal banaithi, Hamari honhar, Samajhdar, Rani Mehek ki jay ho, jay ho,"
(This morning, our beloved sister graced this earth , bringing prosperity to our world. All hail our skilled, clever Queen Mehek - cheers to her triumph, joy ho!)

I asked, "Tum kab aayin?"
(When did you come?')

Shivam emotionally expressed, "Didi, you didn't even notice. I came back from my hostel last night."

Then they held my hand, fixed the bed, and then hugged me really tight. It made me feel unexpectedly good, like a sudden burst of love. The warmth of their hugs created a happy moment, turning a simple task into a special time together.

All of them joyfully exclaimed, "Happy Birthday!" with heartfelt emotion.

I exclaimed, "So, all the troublemakers are now in one place!"

I groggily expressed, "Thank you, guys"

Naina urgently said, "Get up!" while shaking me with her hands.

Shivam asked, "Can you smell something?"

I replied, "Yes! Something very tasty feels like Puriya is being made." The aroma wafted through the air, teasing our senses with the promise of a delicious treat.

Naina exclaimed, "Vo to banayegi, ladli beti ki birthday hai." The excitement in her voice hinted at the special preparations," Let's go girl"

"Go, freshen up, and come down; we'll wait for you and we have another surprise." they chorused, their voices harmonizing like a comforting melody.

"Surprise. Okay go I am coming in 10 minutes" I assured them.

I went to freshen up.
The bathroom felt calming, with water soothingly splashing. The cool water on my face was like a refresher, washing away worries.

The familiar scents and routine felt like a simple ritual, getting me ready for a new beginning. As the water droplets fell, it felt like a wash not just physically, but mentally too, preparing me for the warmth and company waiting downstairs.
