I forced a smile as I extended my hand to the landowner. "Nice to meet you," I said, gripping his hand firmly, feeling the weight of the transaction.
Turning to Anirban, I offered my hand again. "Nice to meet you again," I said, my voice steady but my eyes locked onto his, a flicker of past conflicts surfacing.
Anirban’s lips curled into a tight smile. "The world is such a small place," he remarked, his tone laced with an undercurrent of rivalry.
"Indeed," I replied, holding his gaze a moment longer, the air between us thick with unspoken tensions.
The landowner began, "Would you like to sit down?"
I shook my head. "No, just tell me the price and start the bidding. The land area and position are really nice."
Both parties agreed, and the landowner continued, "The price I'd like to sell this for is 45 crore."
"50 crore," I stated immediately, not giving Anirban a chance to respond first.
"55 crore," Anirban countered, a smirk playing on his lips.
"65 crore," I shot back, my tone unwavering.
Anirban's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't back down. "75 crore."
"Let's end it here—90 crore," I declared, my voice firm and resolute.
His eyes widened in surprise. "Are you that desperate to buy this land, even if you lose this much?"
"I don't like to lose," I replied, my gaze unwavering. "Some investments are worth every sacrifice. This land will be mine, no matter the cost."
Mehek, who was watching us from a little distance, her face became dull.
I didn’t want to see that face, but she shouldn’t have brought this dickhead.
The landowner turned to me, "So, I am selling this land to Mr. Rathore."
He yelled, "Hey, Raj, bring that paper and two chairs!"
He handed me the documents. "Here, please sign on it. Sit down, sit down."
I signed the check and handed it to the landowner. Mehek and her companions were leaving.
I decided to add a little spice to the situation. "By the way, why are you buying the land for, Mehek?"
Anirban responded, "To build a hospital."
I leaned back in the chair, a smirk forming on my lips. "Oh... me too."
Turning my attention to Mehek, I added, "Mehek, if you reconsider and go on a date with me, I might just give you the land without you having to pay a cent."
