Two days later it was the day of Charlotte and Alexander's wedding. Christine was just about finished getting ready and was looking for the wedding gift. However, just before she left, Ralph found her and was amazed by her dress. "You look beautiful Christine. What's the occasion?" he asked politely.
"Thank you and today is my cousin Charlotte's wedding," Christine replied as she looks down at the gift then back up.
"Oh, that's wonderful. Tell them...Wait...you're not going by yourself are you?"
"Oh no, I'm going with a friend. I...saw him yesterday when I went into town."
"Good. Well, I hope you and your friend have fun," said Ralph.
"Thank you and we shall," she replied as she smiles. Christine then grabs her coat and leaves the mansion. As she closes the door, Ralph watches her leave until she closes the door. Outside the mansion, a carriage arrives. Inside, Erik opens the door and reaches for Christine's hand. "Good morning, Christine," said Erik.
"Erik...but...but how? I was planning on picking you up," Christine assumed.
"Well, after I left last night I passed by your coachman and asked if he could pick me up first so that way I could be the kind gentleman that I am and pick you up," Erik replied as he gets out of the carriage.
In the back of his mind, Erik thinks, "God, what am I saying. I'm such an idiot."
"Ah well...I guess this leaves me no problem of having to drive into town then," Christine implied.
"Exactly."
They look deep into each other's eyes. "Yes, well...we should get going. We don't want to be late," Erik implied. He takes her hand and escorts her to the carriage. "After you."
"Thank you," says Christine as she gets in the carriage. Once she's inside, Erik gets inside, closes the door, and they leave.
An hour later, they approach the mansion. Once Christine and Erik walk inside, they see everyone walking to go inside the ballroom that is set up as the wedding chapel. The decorations are exquisite and beautiful. "Wow, this is beautiful!" said Erik.
"It isn't it?" implied Gabriel as he approaches them from behind. Christine and Erik turn around. "Uncle!" Christine shouted as she hugs him.
"Oh Christine, I'm so happy that you could make it!" expresses Gabriel as he let's go of Christine and shakes Erik's hand.
"Uncle, I wouldn't miss it for the world," she replied.
"I'm guessing Raoul couldn't come, Gabriel assumed."
"More like chose not to come. He said that he has business that he, "had to go to."
"Well, it's his loss then," said Gabriel. They smile and silently laugh with one another. "Hello, again Erik. It is good to see you again. So glad you could join," he said as he reaches for Erik's hand.
"Yes sir," Erik replied.
"How...how do you two know each other?" asks Christine.
"Well...long story short. Erik and I ran into each other when we were when I was heading to your mansion to see you. So, I offered him a ride, and we became friends after that afternoon," replied Gabriel as he puts his hand on Erik's shoulder.
"Ok. So where is Charlotte?"
"She's getting dressed and is very nervous."
"Why? It's her wedding day," Christine implied.
"Well, I think every bride would be nervous on their wedding day. Am I correct?" assumes Erik.
"Yes, but not always," Gabriel replied.
