A few hours later, Erik is dreaming away until suddenly he finds himself hearing voices. He tosses and turns as the voices grow louder and echo in his mind. In his dream, Erik finds himself wandering around in pitch-black darkness. As he walks around, he hears the sound of a crying child and someone in pain.
"ERIK! Help me!" A voice echoes in pain. Recognizing the sound of that voice, he wonders if the woman in distress could be Christine. But why and what could be causing her pain. He begins to run and panic as the voices continue to become louder and louder.
"Christine? Where are you?" Erik shouts.
Suddenly he finds himself in a room, a small dark and gloomy bedroom. As he looks around, he notices a woman sitting in a chair; sad, looked as if she had been crying for days, maybe months. Erik slowly walks towards her and asks, "Christine?" The young woman looks up. It is Christine, with red puffy eyes from crying and her face white and pale. Erik is horrified and confused as he slowly walks towards her. "Christine."
Christine stands up slowly and mumbles, "Erik." They hold each other in their arms. Christine shakes as she feels emotional and overwhelmed to see him. "What are you doing?" He asks her. "What's happening?"
Christine slowly backs away from Erik. "Isn't it obvious? You've done this to me!" Christine replied. They look deep into each other's eyes; however, Christine looks and turns away from him. Erik tilts his head, confused about what she meant by that. "All I ever wanted is to be with you, but now I have nothing."
"I don't understand."
Christine turns back around and replies, "What don't you understand? Ever since that night, all I could think about was you — nothing else. I've tried to move on like you would have wished, but I just can't. I can't live in this lie anymore. I don't know if I can keep living like this."
Christine turns and walks to her desk. As she moves to her desk, Erik notices that her face is numb. "Christine. What are you talking about?" He demanded in a calm and clear tone.
She takes a deep breath, opens the drawer, and pulls something out. "What are you doing?" He asks Christine with concern.
As Christine turns around, Erik notices that in her hand that she is holding out a dagger. Erik is shocked, confused, and afraid of what she is going to do. "I'm so sorry, Erik," she apologized. "But if I can't be with you, then what's the point? I can't live my life without you. You have left me no choice." She shakes nervously as she is conflicted about making a decision. Erik slowly raises his hand and says, "No! Christine don't!" Christine sheds a tear and puts the dagger in her chest. She moans.
"NO!"
Christine blinks several times as she feels extreme pain. She then quickly takes out the dagger and falls to her knees. "Oh, my God! Christine!" Said Erik as he immediately rushes to her side and holds her in his arms. He puts his hand on top of the wound to stop the bleeding. However, as he puts pressure on the wound, Christine gasps as she has a hard time breathing until she looks into his eyes. As she looks into his eyes, Erik suddenly begins to cry.
"Why did you do it, Erik? If you only believed her." Erik looks up as he sees Madame Giry and Christine's uncle standing behind them. "You know that the boy has hurt her, and she loved you more than anything." Claimed Gabriel.
"But instead of believing her words, you chose to believe what you saw," said Madame Giry.
Erik glances down at Christine as the bleeding is getting worse. "Madaline?" Erik asks as he looks back up. "Help me." Madame Giry disappeared. Panicking, Erik turns to Christine's uncle as he sees that he is staring at them. "Please help me. Mr. Daae, please, she's your niece. Help her!" Gabriel, however, slowly disappears as well. "No, please! Anyone! Someone help me!"
