"I knew you would find me one day," says Christine without facing Erik. "Even though I specifically said for you not to look for me. I always knew that you would try to find me." Erik doesn't say a word, speechless about what to say to her. She turns her head and asks, "What do you want, Erik?"
Erik hesitates to answer as he feels nervous to answer. However, as he takes a few steps toward Cristine, he mutters, "Well, there's...There's something I want to say to tell you -"
"Please don't come any closer."
"Why?"
Christine pulls her robe tighter and replies softly, "Just please...don't."
"Ok," he said. Erik pauses for a moment, then continues. "Christine, the reason why I'm here is that I...I want to apologize. For everything. I shouldn't have said the things I said to you, and I shouldn't have done that to you. But when I saw you and the boy kissing...I honestly became jealous and worried that you were still in love with him, and I know that you are not. But I felt like you weren't in love with me anymore."
Christine turns her head and body slightly and sheds a tear. "How could you possibly think that way!" she questioned Erik. "You know that Raoul has hurt me and betrayed me!" Erik doesn't say a word. "Do you think I would honestly marry a man who had broken my heart?"
Erik replies, "No! Christine, I know I should have believed you. You were telling the truth. You were right, and I...I was wrong."
Christine lifts her head as she is shocked to hear Erik admitting that he was wrong. She sheds another tear then, wipes it from her face, and looks at the wall. "Is that it?" she asks.
"No. There's something else that I want to tell you." Erik sighs and takes a few more steps, despite Christine telling him. "Christine...I lied to you. About my feelings towards you."
"What?"
"I lied. I couldn't bear seeing you because the pain was too great, and it felt like history just repeated itself. But differently."
"What are you saying?"
"Christine...Not a day goes by when I think back at what I said to you. It made me sick to my stomach even saying that I didn't love you. After you ran away, I couldn't eat, sleep, or anything without knowing if you would be ok. I would hardly sleep because I would dream about you every night. Every time I dreamt about you, the worse they got. I started to worry about whether or not something bad happened to you." Christine puts her hands on the lower part of her pregnant belly and begins to weep. As what he says is making it difficult for her to think. Erik looks down, sheds a tear, and adds, "Christine... my affections and wishes have not changed. But one word from you silences me forever." Christine sheds another tear as Erik expresses his love to her. "If, however, your feelings have changed, I would have to tell you. You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, love, and love you."
"Oh, Erik. I..." Christine sighs, feeling that what he's saying is true. However, she looks down, shakes her head, and continues, "Oh God. I must be dreaming."
"This isn't a dream!" He shouts. "This is real! I'm here! I came here because I wanted to prove that I was wrong for everything I've said and done to you. I came to prove that I was wrong and you were right! You are always right!" Feeling frustrated, Erik looks away briefly as he takes a deep breath so that he doesn't yell at her. Politely he asks, "Now, will you please at least face me so I can look at you."
Christine closes her eyes and sighs as she knows that she doesn't want to. But she decides to do it anyway. She wraps her robe around her, then turns around. Erik is confused by why Christine is wearing a huge robe but doesn't think much about it. "Thank you," says Erik. Christine glances down to the floor and then back up at Erik. "Christine, if I could turn back time, I would because I would have run away with you that night. I would have asked you to marry me. Have children with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. "
