(Note: In this oneshot, Cole is younger than Kai, Kai is 24 and Cole is 21 because I can and I will also he has to be older for this oneshot to make sense)

Cole Brookstone and Kai Smith walked into Kai's sister's house. It was only early October, but for some reason it was really cold. Cole took off his scarf and put it on the bureau in the front hall. "Hi Nya." Kai said, hugging her. She was 21, Cole's age, and Cole felt like she was a twin sister he never had.

"Hi." Cole said, and after a quick embrace, she led them to the dining room.

Ray, Maya, Jay, and Kai and Nya's grandma were already sitting down, laughing and talking. It was a Smith family dinner.

They had these around once a month, and they were all required to go. Or maybe Maya just wanted to see her mom at least once a month. Jay and Cole were also invited because they were part of the family. Or maybe Maya just wanted the chance to embarrass her children in front of their boyfriends at least once a month.

Cole and Kai took the two empty seats that were next to each other, and before long, Nya had food on the table.

After everyone had finished, they all dispersed throughout the house. But Maya wouldn't let Kai, Nya, Cole, or Jay go anywhere until she had the chance to go through the photo album.

She did this every time just to embarrass Kai and Nya. With different photos every time. Cole and Jay were just in it to laugh at them as babies. Today she wanted some photos from when Kai was 7, 17 years ago.

"I remember when you were just a little boy. And now look at you! All grown up and in college!" Maya said, flipping through the pages until she found one of a 7 year old Kai, in glasses, sitting on a twin bed, waving and smiling.

Cole burst out laughing. "You wear glasses?!"

"I have contacts now, thank you very much." Kai responded.

Maya turned a few more pages and stopped when she found one of Kai's tee-ball team.

"Kai used to be on the tee-ball team when he was in elementary school." she said.

"Here we go again." Kai said with a sigh.

"Shhhhhh." Maya shushed him.

She continued to rant on and on with stories from the tee-ball team.

Too soon though, it was time to leave.

Cole forgot to pick up his scarf, so Kai grabbed it and slid it in his pocket. I'll give it to him later, he thought.

--------------------

The next day, as Kai got out of their bed in the tiny apartment they shared, he woke Cole up. "Why'd you do that?" he mumbled.

"Sorry. Hey, I was thinking. Do you want to go for a drive? Just, like, around?"

"Yeah of course." he responded. "But can I go back to sleep first?"

"Nope. Get up."

"Why are you so harsh?" he asked.

Cole had sat up now, and Kai took advantage of this. "You're up now, and you're not going back to sleep." he said.

Cole flopped back down. "Ughhhh, you tricked me."

Kai ignored this comment. "Meet me in the kitchen in an hour." he said, walking out of the room.

Cole took a shower and then slipped on a pair of black jeans and a hoodie. He tied his long and messy black hair into a ponytail, and then slipped black studs into his ears. He also added two small silver studs in the second piercing right above the black ones. And then he walked into the kitchen where Kai was waiting for him.
