"Jay, you're coming with me." Nya announces to the group, entwining her fingers with his. 

"Yeah, yeah, okay." Jay agrees quickly, leading her to get in line. 

"Pix?" Zane asks the silver-haired girl. 

"Sure! I'd love to!" she grabs him by the hand and takes him to the spot by Jay and Nya. 

Of course all the couples are doing it together. Sucks for him, because nobody likes him and he can tell the truth and he can't be honest with everybody. Just a motherfucking liar, and if they all found out he would literally be exiled from the group. He looks around to see if it would be acceptable to do it alone, but the line is filled with twos. "Great," he mutters, "Just great." There's no uneven groups, they're all partnering up, what is he supposed to-

"Cole?" a voice from right beside him catches him by surprise. 

Kai. 

Oh God. "U-uhm, s-sure." he stammers. And before he knows it, Kai's got his arm linked through his, and holy mother of life he's on the arm of Kai Smith. Of course, Kai just sees it as a friendly gesture, but this is basically Cole's lifelong dream. 

"C'mon, let's catch up to them. They're almost at the front of the line." he says, dragging Cole along behind him. 

Regaining his balance so he doesn't look like an idiot, he sees what Kai's plan is. "Aww, Kai, all these people are gonna be so pissed." 

"Yeah, not my problem. I'm not waiting forever in that huge fucking line just to see Jay's driven off without us." Which is totally something he would do, Cole admits. 

"Uh, okay, whatever you say..." he trails off as Kai shoves them in between Jay and Nya and Pixal and Zane. 

"Hey!" someone behind Zane cries out. "You can't cut us! That's not fair!" 

"Yeah, what the hell?" another shouts. 

Nya, sensing trouble, quickly covers up. "They were just in the bathroom, chill out." 

A chorus of "Ayos" and laughter flickers through the crowd as Cole's face turns red and Nya realizes what she said. "Come on, not like that." she grumbles. "Sorry, guys." she murmurs to them. "But it wouldn't have happened if you hadn't TAKEN FOREVER AND CUT EVERYONE IN LINE." 

"All part of my master plan." Kai says without missing a beat. 

"You're hopeless." Nya buries her face in her hands. "Where's Lloyd?" she says, glancing around. 

"Probably where he was before." Kai picks at a nail. 

"Which is?" Nya prys. 

"At the back of the line being the only single person because Harumi died and Akita moved away." he tells her nonchalantly, still trying to even out his broken nail. 

She facepalms. "It's so true though." she groans. "Now we're gonna have to wait for him forever." 

"Not if I'm driving home. And I am driving home, right?" Jay replies. 

No one speaks up. "Good. Besides, you guys will be too traumatized to drive." he says, moving a step forward in line. 

"Shut up! Don't act like you're not scared too!" Cole tells him playfully.
