Sissie went back into her shell but she came out a bit when Nonon came over. There was the one time Nonon visited and Sissie lost it. Ryuuko found matches and sparklers and we started playing with them. It was a fun until Ryuuko burned her hand. That was when Sissie lost it. It wasn't a little burn but, with the way Sissie was, you'd think Ryuuko got it worse. "Never again will you do that!" she told her, "NEVER AGAIN!" She had two different voices and she said more things but, mostly, she said we would never get play with the sparklers again.
I wish Mama was home so she could make things better but Mama wasn't home, so things got out of control real fast. Playtime was over and we were made to stay in our room for the rest of the day. Ryuuko looked like her heart broke. We were only playing and Ryuuko got hurt. I asked Ryuuko if she got hurt real bad, to which Ryuuko told me, "No, but Sis got mad. Sparklers were real fun, Nui." She was crying after that. She started on about "that night" and our old life. "Our old life was scary, Ryuuko." I told her.
"Yeah, but we can't be like other kids, Nui."
"Maybe Sissie will let us, one day."
"Or NOT! We can't leave the yard and, now, we'll never get to play with sparklers no more..."
"You got hurt, Ryuuko. She's scared is all."
"We don't even go to school with Mako!"
"She's tryin' to keep us safe, Ryuuko."
"It's always that. 'Protectin' us', as she calls it, but what is she protectin' us from?! Nothin', that's what!"
That night, I think, Sissie was more upset. She was telling Mama that she did what she had to, while Mama tried her best to tell her that we were just playing. Satsuki wasn't having any of that and stated that it's for our own good, but Sissie was crying, too. From what we got, she told Mama that she didn't want to do what she did but she had to. She wasn't really clear on that but, then again, she's never really clear on anything.
After that, for about a week, we couldn't do too much of anything in the yard. We had to play quietly inside and without anything that needs fire.
