Music Playing: Goodbye, my friend by Hiroyuki Sawano

The ambulance came and took Satsuki. We did go to the hospital where we learned that Satsuki did survive being hit by a car but was seriously injured, possibly crippled. The girls were wrecked but I think Nonon was especially shaken. I knew I couldn't ask her if she was alright, no, it was obvious that she wasn't. "She trusted me with her darkest secrets," she said, "and, now, I have her blood on my hands." I asked her what happened last night and she just stared before she told us that she and Sissie played under the stars. "She didn't have a friend to play with and so we played under the stars..." she said, her eyes fixed in a 1,000-yard stare.

She broke down more, her hands shaking. "I could have stopped this." she said, more tears coming. She told us a little more about what happened the night before, where, as much she could say to protect Ryuuko and Nui's innocence, that Satsuki attempted to kill herself by getting hit by a car. "She loved her sisters so much that she wanted them to be free..." she said, wrapping her arms around herself.

By a point, as we waited for more on Satsuki's status, she was more tearful but I think she was just angry, angry with herself. "I should have gone to the police with what I knew. I should have tried to convince her to turn herself in. I could have stopped this from happening and I didn't. She trusted me the most and, by keeping her secrets, I practically killed her."

She then turned to Ryuuko and Nui, on her knees, begging for forgiveness. "I'm sorry that I didn't stop this. I'm sorry I kept her secrets. I know she loved you both very much, you're all she has. I ask that you forgive me for my part in this, please forgive me." She then started to plead for Satsuki's forgiveness, as the girls comforted each other, but, mostly, she was begging Satsuki to make it through her injuries. "Satsuki, your sisters need you, please, make it...please!" she said, crying even more.

From what I could tell, Ryuuko seemed to be just as devastated. "I want Sissie!" she said, screaming. Ryuuko told me that Satsuki told her, by leaving, the latter was giving her what she wanted. "I didn't want this! I didn't want Sissie to get hit by cars! I just wanted her to let us be normal, but I ain't want this..." she managed to choke out. She couldn't say much else but she did say that, if she knew Sissie would be gone for good, she'd have been "good". I think it was particularly painful that, not only Satsuki attempted suicide, but that Ryuuko blamed herself for it.

Of course, the police were contacted, as is routine. Instinctively, the girls knew to try to hide, while Nonon was so resigned. Nonon's friends suggest that she tell the police what she knew. She flat out said, "For my secrecy, I may as well be tossed in prison right along with her, as her blood is on my hands." The police, as well, as the doctors were confused but Nonon, somehow, found the strength to straighten herself, giving a proclamation, "Her name is Satsuki. Satsuki Kiryuuin and she was an abused little girl who did what she had no choice but to do. She was 11-years old."

The girls stayed behind with Mako, huddled together, while Nonon and I went back the doctors and the police to see Satsuki.
She was awake and staring at nothing, initially, but she was very much aware, attached to machines, with oxygen tubes in her nose. When her eyes found us, she said, "Oh, Nonon, you told, didn't you? I don't blame you."

Authoress Notes: Generally, I don't like to reuse tracks because, well, that gets old, so I skipped through a few songs before settling on "Goodbye, my friend" by Hiroyuki Sawano, which I don't have an mp3 for.
