6. Engagement

It's been a month since the day Avu's marriage was fixed, and today is her engagement.

I didn't realize when my little sister grew up! The hall was decorated at per her wish. Guests were already there.

Kartik was standing on the stage wearing a black tuxedo with Avu, who was wearing a golden lehnga. Although I don't want to admit it, she is looking pretty.

They exchanged the rings with bright smile on their faces. I am happy for her. I didn't like this proposal because of Mrs. Agnihotri, but she behaves nicely with Avu.

Maybe that day was just due to all the anger on the girl. Kartik also treats Avu nicely, and i can see she is genuinely happy with him.

A loud hooting broke the trance of my thoughts. I saw Avu dancing on the stage. She twirling with a wide smile on her face.

I was focused on stage when suddenly my gaze fell on the chandelier above the stage. It was loosely hanging and will fall any minute.
Shit.
Avu is there on the stage!
Panic surged through my veins.

I don't think anybody noticed it as everyone were focused on her performance.

"Avuuu." I yelled.

Due to loud music, no one can hear me.

"Avuuu"
I called her but loud music!!

Please, god! keep her safe! I was running towards the stage, but i heard a scream followed by the sound of the chandelier that had already fallen on stage.

"Avuuu"

I heard my heart beating loudly as everything fell silent.

I saw Kartik running towards stage and holding Avu. She is fine!
I sighed in relief.
Thank god.

Me, maa, papa, Aakash, Mr and Mrs. Agnihotri rushed to the stage when i noticed Avu holding a woman's hand. Her hand had a deep cut due to the chandelier, and blood was oozing out of the wound.

She was back facing me wearing a staff uniform. Avu hugged her, mumbling, "Thank you! Thank you so much, Panchi!"

Panchi?
What is she doing here?
But I noticed Kartik glaring at Panchi angrily?
Before anyone else could say or do something, Mrs. Agnihotri came toward Panchi,
And samck!
A loud slap echoed in the hall!!

"Mrs. Agnihotri."
"Mom."
Me and Avu yelled at the same time.

"Ab kya baaki reh gaya hai! Mere ek bete ki izzat ki dhajiya udakr tujhe shanti nahi mili jo ab dusre bete ki shaadi mai bhi problem create krne aagyi!!"  Mrs. Agnihotri yelled at Panchi.
