34. Legal notice

"What the hell is this!?" Devendra Goenka yelled, looking at the papers in his hands as his eyes turned red in anger.

"What happened, dad?" Aryan asked, worried.

"That girl sent me a legal notice to vacate the house in two days!!" Devendra yelled.

"Vacate the house? How can she send you a legal notice to do so...?" Aryan asked, frowning. "Unless the house belongs to her." He added in realization.

"THIS HOUSE IS MINE!!! Everything is mine!!!" Devendra roared in anger.

"Then why are you so scared?" Aryan asked, scoffing.

"Don't you dare talk to me in that tone, son. Don't forget your mother is still at my mercy. That girl ran away and married a rich man, but you and your mother can't do the same." Devendra warned and stromed out in anger.

"Don't worry, dad. I am not doing anything. Ab to waise bhi karmo ka hisab hone wala hai.... aapke bhi or mere bhi." Aryan said, chuckling sadly.

*Malhotra Mansion*

"I had a lot of fun." Roop said, giggling as she stole another bite from Yuvraj's ice cream.  Yuvraj, who took her out on a date since they successfully took the first step for her revenge, just kept staring at his adorable wife.

"Yeah, i can see that." Yuvraj said smiling, looking at her, who had two ice creams in her hand but was still stealing from his.

"We should go out often." She added as they threw the ice cream sticks in the bin and walked to the car.

"We will." Yuvraj said, looking at her. She's been continuously smiling. It felt like conquering the world to him.

He was completely lost in her when a vehicle almost crashed into him, causing him to fall on the road.

"RAJ!!" Roop's panicked voice made its way to his ears as she helped him get up.

"Are you okay?" She asked, worried as a couple of people gathered around them, but the one riding the vehicle was long gone.

She checked his hands, legs, and face and sighed in relief, not finding any injury.

"Why can't you be careful." She said softly as she helped him sit on a nearby bench.

"Wait, I'll get you some water." Roop said while pecking his forehead. Yuvraj completely forgot about the little accident that just happened and blushed like a teenager.

Roop went to the nearby shop to purchase a water bottle.

"Here." She handed a 20 Rs. note to the shopkeeper.

"You should be careful." The shopkeeper said in a low voice.

"Huh?" She looked at him frowning.

"Aaye din aise kitne haadse hote rehte hai. Tumhara pati iss baar to bach gaya pr agli baar bach payega? Isilye meri salah maano or thoda sambhal kr chalna sikho. Baki tum samajhdar ho." He said with an evil smile on his face, and Roop gulped nervously.

"Give me the water bottle." She said firmly, trying to hide her nervousness.

"Kya tumhe sach mai lagta hai yeh akhri baar hua hai? Abhi bhi waqt hai sambhal jao wrna...." He said in a warning tone as a stupid smirk made a way to his face.

"Wrna kya?" Roop asked, her voice stern with a hint of fear.

"Your water bottle." He said, taking money from her hand and passing her the bottle as she left without daring to look behind.

She went back to the bench where she left Yuvraj only to find it empty. Panicked surged through her veins as the conversation from earlier replayed in her mind.

"The guy who was sitting her just now... where is he?" Roop asked someone, almost on the verge of breaking down.

"He left." the stranger said, shrugging his shoulders.

"Left? Where?" She asked.

"I have no idea." He said, and she nodded as she continued looking for her husband.

"Where's my goddam phone!!" She huffed in frustration as she shuffled through her bag.

"This is what happens when you try to mess with people beyond your control. By the way, he is near the car looking for you, thinking you got injured." Goosebumps rose on Roop's skin as she heard an unfamiliar voice behind her, only to find no one when she turned back.

She quickly rushed towards their car when someone pulled her hand from behind. Scared to her core, she clutched her eyes tightly and quickly fisted her hand and landed a punch on the person's jaw.

"AAAH." She heard the familiar voice and opened her eyes.

"Shit. I am so sorry, Raj." She said, realizing it was him.

"One day, you are going to dislocate my jaw." He said, rubbing his jaw to soothe the pain.

"I am really sorry. It's just that i thought it was someone else." She said, blowing air on his jaw.

He kissed her before she could back away.

"What was that?" She asked, hitting his chest.

"I wanted to do it when you punched me the first time..... Just making up for it now." Yuvraj said, smiling widely.

"Wait. Why did you come here without informing me?" Roop asked, and his smile vanished.

"Someone told me something happened to you as you went to the car to take water." He said, worried.

"I bought water from the shop, and i don't even have the keys." I said, looking at him in disbelief.

"When i heard you were hurt, i couldn't think straight." He admitted pouting like a kid who was caught while stealing candies.

"Why would someone lie to you?" Roop said even more scared after the events that took place in the past half an hour.

"Don't think about it much." Yuvraj said reassuringly.

"Do... do we really.... like, do we.... can't we just let it be?" Roop asked, fidgeting her fingers.

"What?" Yuvraj asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uhh... Like, do we have to fight, Mr. Goenka?" She said.

"It's not an option, Roop. Though if you don't want to, we won't, but what about everything he did to you, Roop? He had hurt you. He had hurt your mother. He... he killed her." He said, sighing defeatedly.

"Jo chala gaya wo to wapas nahi aa sakta na, pr jo aaj hai... wo humesha humse chin skta hai." Roop said as her eyes turned glossy.

"Wo to aapke kuch na krne se bhi ho skta hai na Roop? And now that we have already taken the first step, why don't we just give it a try?" He said softly, caressing her cheek as she nodded reluctantly.

"I love you." He said, pecking her forehead, and he opened the door for her.

"I know." She said softly, and she sat inside, and they drove back to Malhotra Mansion.
