Author's pov
Roop stirred around the house with a sour face after Avantika and Prakriti left.
"Roop Yuvraj Malhotra." She heard Yuvraj calling her from behind, and her cheeks heated up in embarrassment. All she wished was to disappear somehow.
"What?" She asked, turning to face him, trying to act all normal.
"Nothing." Yuvraj said, and she looked at him with a frown but nodded her head.
"Acha listen..... Roop Yuvraj Malhotra." He called her again as she started leaving.
"Whaaattt!?" She asked, annoyed.
"Nothing. I just love how it sounds." Yuvraj replied with a teasing smirk, and she scoffed.
"Why don't you go to your friend. Her name sounds good, too." Roop said, rolling her eyes and turning back to leave when Yuvraj held her arm and pulled her into himself.
"You look hotter when you are jealous." He said, keeping his chin over her shoulder as his lips hovered over her earlobe.
Roop gulped at the proximity, still new to him, being so close to her.
"I... I am not jealous." She stammered.
"You sure aren't." He replied as he pecked her cheek before leaving as she stood there dumbfounded.
'Did he just call me hot?' She thought before shaking her head, trying to get him out of her mind.
◇ Next morning ◇
Everyone seated at the breakfast table as Prakriti joined them, along with Anurag and his sister Radhika. She sat beside Avantika in front of Roop and Yuvraj.
They both were busy bickering about random stuff, and Prakriti noticed how much admiration Yuvraj's eyes held for his wife. His eyes glittered every time she smiled.
Prakriti smiled, looking at them. As much as she wished it was her at Roop's place, she was happy he found the one he adored so much.
She realized how stupid she was to leave her life back in California and come back to India just for him. She felt like a loser, but she was grateful that at least neither him nor Anurag knew about it.
She continued eating food as she noticed Yuvraj feeding Roop with his own hands, and she felt a pang in her chest.
When did Roop became so important to him, it was all she wondered but she got the point that Roop is pretty, cheerful, full of light, and everything she wasn't.
She decided she'll leave back to California tomorrow itself. The heartbreak wasn't what she was prepared for. She never even got the chance to confess her feelings, and now they'd be buried in her heart forever.
"I made this kheer specially for you!" Yuvraj's mother exclaimed, serving the kheer to Prakriti, and she smiled.
"You didn't have to, Aunty." She said politely.
"Really, Aunty. What about me!?" Anurag said, scrunching his nose.
"Prakriti tumhari tarah din ke 24 mai se 23 ghante yaha nahi rehti to uski importance tumse jayda hai!" Avantika said, rolling her eyes.
"That's solely coz i love Uncle Aunty!" Anurag replied with a proud smile.
"And still you keep avoiding coming here from quite a while!" Yuvraj's mother said, shaking her head in disapproval.
"Uhh.... just stuffed with work." Anurag said, caught off guard by the sudden question.
"You even missed her engagement." Yuvraj's father said, pointing at Avantika.
"Work." He murmured under his breath.
"Get your schedule settled before my wedding! There's a lot of preparations left!" Avantika chirped.
"Will see." Anurag said as the continued eating.
"You are staying for the wedding, right?" Avantika asked Prakriti.
"I really wanted to, but i can't. Actually, i am leaving tomorrow morning." Prakriti replied with a small smile.
"Whaattt! You just came yesterday, and you're already leaving!?" She said, sulking.
"She must have some urgent work!" Roop replied almost immediately while Yuvraj chocked on food, looking at her in amusement.
"Aapko bahut bura lag raha hai unke jaane ka." Roop said, passing him a glass of water.
"Stop tempting me." He muttered, and Roop looked at him confused.
"Tempting you? For what? Stop her from leaving!?" Roop said, scoffing.
"Stop you from speaking." He replied as his eyes moved down to her lips.
Roop looked at him wide-eyed and turned back to focus on her food.

."So you met her when you were 12?" Prakriti said, smiling softly as Yuvraj told her about him and Roop skipping Roop's private information.
"Yes. I think i fell in love with her on my birthday. I don't know exactly, but i guess it was that day only. She gifted me her pendant. I think i liked her a lot before that day, but it wasn't love." Yuvraj said, smiling, remembering the old memories.
"You were 13." Prakriti said, looking at him in disbelief.
"Well, i didn't realize it back then, and then age is just a number." He said, shrugging his shoulders.
"How come you never met her in all these years?" Prakriti asked still confused as Yuvraj deliberately skipped the details about Roop's messed you family, not because he is embarrassed but because it's something very personal and he won't share it without her permission.
"Destiny." He replied.
"But i saw her father's interview where he claimed that you kidnapped her! Did you actually......?" Prakriti asked looking at him suspiciously trying to figure out if Roop needs her help.
"Of course not. Apni hi biwi ko kidnap kyu karuga mai bhala?" Yuvraj looked at her in disbelief.
Prakriti nodded and took another step forward but lost her balance and fell into Yuvraj's arms.
"You okay?" He asked and she nodded making some distance between them while Roop stood there watching them so close to each other. Her heart broke looking at him being all happy and goofy with someone else but she tried to convince herself into thinking otherwise and left from there.
Yuvraj who noticed Roop left behind her not wanting her to misunderstand the situation.
