Roop's pov

It's been a couple of weeks since we found out the truth. Mr. Goenka is dead for the world, and all his wealth, which was never actually his, is now transferred to me and Aryan, which is not true, though. He's held captive by my husband.

About my husband, he is turning 28 tomorrow. I was thinking about baking a cake for him at midnight. I want to make him feel special. I mean, he is special.

Currently it's 10:30 pm and i am already late. Raj is preoccupied by work thanks to Anurag.

Pouring the batter into baking mold, i put it in oven.

"How is it going, bhabhi!?" I heard Avu's voice.

"Good. I just hope he likes it." I said as i continued melting the chocolate for icing.

"Don't worry about that. He'll happily eat poison from your hand. Besides, you make the most amazing food." Avu said, trying to cheer me up.

"Shut up, Avu." I said, rolling my eyes as she entered inside, taking some chocolate from the bowl.

"This is for raj." I said, squinting my eyes.

"Mean. Just like your brother." She huffed.

"Aren't you too interested in my brother?" I asked teasingly.

"No way. I hate Anurag. He's annoying." She said, trying to hide her red cheeks.

"I definitely bought that!" I said, rolling my eyes.

"It's nothing, trust me." She said, and i nodded.

"Yet." I said, and she glared at me.

"There won't be anything ever. Don't worry." She added.

"I am not saying anything at all." I said, pretending to zip my mouth.

"Drama queen." Avu said as she stole some more chocolate.

"Back to your room now." I declared. I know she won't leave unless she wants to.

"How mean!" She looked at me, narrowing her eyes.

"Where's maa and Papa?" I asked, referring to our parents. Yes, our parents. It took me some time, but i finally accepted it. Raj's parents love me like they love Avu and him.

"Sleeping." She said. "You need any help?" She added, and i shook my head.

Yuvraj's pov

"Got the point, Anurag. We can discuss it later." I said in frustration.

"Just a moment, Yuv. You need to sign these documents, and then you can leave." He said, passing me the documents related to a project.

"You checked them?" I asked him, and he nodded, so i signed the documents.

"You had to read it first!!" He said, irritation laced in his voice.

"You did." I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"Had i known earlier, I'd have transferred your property to me." Anurag said, rolling his eyes while i just ignored him and left home.

I want to start my birthday with my wife but this bastard had to annoy me.

After a 30-minute drive, i reached home. Surprisingly, my wife didn't even once text me asking about my whereabouts.

Everyone would already be asleep, so i walked to our room directly.

I knocked on the door, but there was no response. She must have slept. I opened the door only to be welcomed by darkness.

This is strange. She's doing better with her nyctophobia, but she never stays alone in the dark.

"Roop." I called her.

No response.

I switched on the lights, but before i could see anything, i felt someone's hands on my eyes.

"Where were you?" I asked, worried as i crouched down a little so Roop could easily cover my eyes.

"Irritating Avu." She said.

"And why are you covering my eyes." I asked.

"Just wait for 5 more minutes. Will you keep your eyes closed while i go and grab a piece of cloth?" She asked.

"What is going on in your head, dear wife?" I asked.

"Yes or no?" She asked, ignoring my question, and i nodded my head.

I kept my eyes shut while she came back and tied a piece of cloth around my eyes.

"Now you can sit down. You must be tired." She said, guiding me to the couch.

I heard her shuffling around the room occasionally, followed by the noise of a lighter.

What is she up to?
Is she sacrificing me or something?

Soon, i heard her switching off the lights as she removed the cloth from my eyes.

"Happy birthday, Raj." She said, grinning widely as she engulfed me into her embrace.

"Thank you so much." I said, wrapping my arms around her as i took in the room.

The walls are lined with soft fairy lights. A canopy of sheer curtains is draped over the bed. On a nearby table, candles flicker beside a small chocolate cake.

"Wow. Did you do this?" I asked in awe, looking around the beautifully decorated room.

"Yes." She said, smiling widely.

"Come, let's cut the cake." She said, pressing her lips against my cheek.

I held her hand in mine as we cut the cake together. I took a piece and forwarded it to her. She ate it and fed it to me.

"You made it?" I asked amused, and she nodded.

"God, I love you so much." I said, pulling her into another hug.

"I love you more." She said, and i looked at her, blinking my eyes multiple times.

"I... I think i misheard you." I said, still confused if she actually said that, or i was just hearing things.

"I love you, Raj. I really do." She said, breaking the hug. I just stood there dumbfounded, not expecting any on it.

"How can i not love you? You made me believe in people in marriages. Just talking about marriages used to leave a bitter taste in mouth, but look at me now... i have never been happier." She added, taking a deep breath as i raised my hand to caress her cheek.

"I don't think i am still okay with thinking about marriage. The only reason i am happy is because it's with you. You left me no option but to love you and above of all love myself. You took away all my pain with your love." She continued as a tear escaped her eyes.

"Will you marry me, Yuvraj Malhotra? No conditions, no expiry date, just us. Will you marry me with proper rituals just like you and our family always wanted." She said, holding my hands in hers.

"I just wanted to spend my birthday with you, but you made it even more special. I’d marry you over and over again, Roop, no matter the terms or conditions. As long as it’s you, nothing else matters. I fell in love with you on my 13th birthday when you gave me that pendant, and now, on my 28th birthday, my love for you is finally no longer one-sided." I said as i wrapped my hands tightly around her once again.

"I am sorry for making you wait." She muttered against my neck.

"It was worth it." I said, patting her back as we stood in each others embrace.

It is the best birthday ever to me.
