Chapter Six

"Good you're here, I was worried she was going to go through these changes on her own." Mari spoke with concern laced in her voice as she walked over towards the duo

"What's happening to Reina?" Noctis asked concerned as he looked at the elder brunette female

"She's going through her transformation from fully human to demon, it usually happens between the age of ten and thirteen." Mari stated informing Noctis that was Reina was going through was rather normal for demons to go through due to maturity and power level, that it was no surprise to her that her daughter had gone through it so soon

"Will she be alright?" Noctis asked concerned

"In a half hour-yes. Until then she's going to need someone to watch over her that's close to her." Mari stated placing a hand on the younger males shoulder softly

Noctis averted his eyes. "I...I don't think I can do that. Her and I aren't that close to one another. Once upon a time yeah...sure her and I were close. But I spoke up wrongly about watching over her and well...I haven't spoken a word to her since then. The rest of our middle school career and all through summer vacation she and I didn't speak much or at all to one another."

"I'm aware of that, but I don't think she sees it the way you do. If she didn't think you two were close I don't think she'd be holding onto your arm like that." Mari stated pointing to how Reina was holding onto his arm for dear life

"You really think she'd want me to stay here with her?" Noctis voiced in concern with confusion laced in his voice

Mari nodded her head. "When my demon side came out at her age her father was there at my side and he was concerned for me too cause we weren't on good speaking terms either. But I wanted him there since he was so concerned for me and I knew that he cared enough about me to worry about what was going on with me. You hold that same concern and worry for her do you not?"

Noctis nodded his head silently before he looked down at Reina who was still going through her changes. Her hold on his arm was still rather tight as she was sobbing out. "Do you think our teachers are going to be okay with this?"Noctis asked concerned

"I don't know but they'll have to deal with it. Reina can't control when and where her changes will appear on her. Speaking of which she won't be able to retract her demon form until her next birthday. So until then people may end up making fun out of her and bully her for how she looks. I truly need you to look out for her Noctis."

Noctis nodded his head firmly. "I can do that not a problem, she's been worrying me with how she's been acting anyways. I wanted to apologize to her for how things have been between us but I just haven't been able to find her to talk to her outside of class to speak to her about it."

"That's my daughter for you, she doesn't like confrontations, she'll do whatever it takes to keep herself from dealing with confrontations. It's why she never fought for my attention or the attention of her uncles and aunts. She didn't want the hassle of dealing with drama and nonsense. It's why she was constantly in the shadows. Watching her as of late-I've realized just how non-confrontational she is compared to her brother." Mari suspected with a sigh shaking her head

Noctis nodded his head in agreement. "I've seen that too, especially when Lunafreya was around. Reina wouldn't stand up for herself or try to say anything to get a point across to Lunafreya. She would just leave the area where Lunafreya was and not get herself involved in things with her."

At that time Reina went from holding onto Noctis to holding onto the bed as her hands turned to dark claws and her back arched upwards as dark wings appeared behind her back. Reina sobbed out at the painful feeling of her wings coming out. Mari knelt down to her daughter and made her look at her.
