As the clock struck midnight,
I mouthed: "Happy birthday"
You looked at me with those eyes and said:
"I might as well just go away"
One year more
It's only making you more thorn
I just wish I could tell you: "It's okay, baby"
But I doubt you would believe me
Yes, the years that make the distance between us
Could certainly reduce all our hope to dust
But I think that it is our souls
That really make us whole
You say we're in different places in our lives
Maybe you're right
You're an adult, and seem to perceive me like a child
I'm trying so much not to be one for you, trust me, I try
I gave you your birthday gift yesterday
A video of all our best moments together
I was scared you would feel like I betrayed
What you could consider as a secret
Clips of that night when *almost* everything finally seemed right
You were thinking that way too, right?
You were scared that we were gonna get caught
But it didn't stop us
Listen, I know what you're gonna say
"That night was an exception"
You were all weird, and confused, and it was fun
"But we can't consider it, no way"
I'm so, so sorry
But you can't stop me
From thinking that that night, only that night
We were both in love.
( this poem is my second favorite, not by far. I hope you liked it :))
