December 30 came too quickly. You had just spent the holidays with your family back home but now it was time to get back to New York.
You rolled over just as your phone started to buzz on the bed beside you. You yawn and click the red button to dismiss it. You sit up and look at the bags packed by your old bedroom door. Your phone lights up. It's your best friend calling.
You chuckle, "Hello?"
"Hey y/n," Bucky laughed, "Just making sure you got up in time. Wouldn't want to miss the plane right?"
"Very funny Barnes," You grumble, "That was one time!"
"Just teasing. When do you get in? I'm going to come pick you up."
"Around 4pm. I hope I'm not late. I wouldn't want to miss the Team back to work meeting."
"Yeah, stark would have us both hung."
You stand up and begin to pack up your last minute items, "How was Christmas?"
"It was okay. Steve, Nat, Mark, Wanda, Vision, and I all celebrated together Christmas eve. The 25th was basic. I slept in until noon and then hit two hours in the gym."
"Sounds fun."
"It would have been better if you were here," He says.
You blush, "I miss you guys too. I'm sorry. I spent last Christmas with you guys I figured I owed it to my parents."
"No no, it's fine. I'm glad you got to see them."
"Bucky are you alright?" You ask having detected a sad tone in his voice.
He responds, "Yeah I'm fine. Just a bit tired. I just finished working out."
"Still working on those abs?"
Bucky laughs, "Yes in fact."
You shake your head giggling, "You and Steve and your abs. The happy trio."
"Hey we work hard to look this good!"
"Oh sure!"
"I'm positive you can't lift 500lb!"
"No I couldn't," You admit, "Touche."
Bucky laughs again, "Alright well, I think I'm going to go catch some shut-eye. I'll see you this evening."
"Alright buck. See you later."
"Yep see you doll."
Your cheeks warm, "See you." You hang up. You loved it when he called you that.
Your dad dropped you off outside the front doors of the airport.
"If you need anything do not hesitate t call," He hugs you, "Be careful. Look after yourself?"
