Spencer screamed loudly. Squeezing my hand so tight that her knuckles were going white.
"Come one honey just a little more," the midwife smiled warmly, trying to make Spencer feel better. Spencer breathed heavily, sweat and tears dripping down her face,
"I can't!" She sobbed. She looked at me and shook her head, "I can't do it!"
"Yes Spencer. You can, I know you can." I said and I squeezed her hand and smiled at her encouragingly.

Spencer nodded and then, squeezing my hand so tight that It felt as though every bone inside it was breaking she pushed one last time. Then, all at once, her whole body relaxed and the midwife lifted up a beautiful little baby girl and wrapped her in a pale pink blanket. I felt my mouth open as the midwife handed the baby to Spencer. She held the gorgeous little pink bundle in her arms and looked up at me, strands of her hair stuck to patches of sweat on her face.
"We did it." She breathed. I bent down and kissed her softly on the lips and I kissed our baby on the forehead.
"Yeah," I said, "We did,"
