"Toby I think we should spend a little time apart." I whispered.

It was a week later and nothing between us he really changed. We were stood on the curb outside of our favourite Italian restaurant having just finished our meal. It was getting dark and the pavement was lit by the almost eerie orange glow of the street lamps, I could feel the spatter of a few raindrops on my face but I ignored them.

Toby looked crushed. A horrible feeling crept through me but I held my ground.
"We can't go on like this Toby it's been a week and nothing's changed. Maybe if we don't see each other for a little while we will be able to forget- or at least forgive." I placed my hand on his face, his skin was cold to the touch.

"Don't you see Spence?" He said, "I can't just not see you. I see you in everything: in puddles when it rains and in the wind when it's so strong it almost blows me away. In the feeling of the sun warming your body and in the sound of our beautiful children laughing. I see you in the dew drops on grass and the sound of birds chirping in the early morning,"

He took a step closer to me, the rain was getting heavier and drops were landing on his face and hair, he didn't brush them away. His eyes pierced mine with an unfamiliar intensity.

He looked up at the dark sky, illuminated with tiny bright white lights.
"I would give you every star in the galaxy to make you love me like you used to," I couldn't be sure because of the rain but I thought I could see tears in his face.

"What a pointless gesture," I said quietly, "I already love you. The same way I always have and always will- I never stopped,"

Then, finally, giving in to the temptation that I'd been resisting for seven days, I leant forward, relaxing into his arms, and pressed my lips against his. Freezing cold rain fell over the two of us but I barely noticed- I noticed Toby. I noticed our bodies pressed together, tangled in each others arms.

The rest of the world melted away and it was just me, and Him.
