*SPENCER'S POV*

"Shhh, don't cry Poppy" Toby's deep, soothing voice said. I opened my eyes, the curtains were still drawn and the bedroom was still dark but light was flooding into the room through the door which was slightly ajar. Toby was holding Poppy in his arms and rocking her gently back and forth, he was still in his pale blue Pyjama bottoms and I could see his abs and toned arms. He looked back into the room and saw me looking at him,
"Morning sleepy," He whispered, walking into the room. When he got closer I could see that Poppy was fast asleep in his arms. He sat on the edge of the bed and leant over to kiss me.
"Good morning," I smiled, "What time is it?"
"9:00," he replied looking at his watch "I think I'm gonna make us some breakfast, what would you like?" I shrugged and held my arms out and he handed me our baby, then I followed him down to the kitchen to keep him company whilst he made breakfast. I gave Poppy her bottle whilst he was cooking, the delicious smell of sizzling bacon filled the house and Toby whistled as he cooked. That made me smile. Little things like that always make me smile.

He made bacon and eggs and it was delicious- I swear he is the best cook! We spent the morning on the sofa, watching TV in our pyjamas with Poppy between us. She had kept us up most of the night crying, so she slept quietly in our arms whilst we watched some trashy reality TV show. Neither of us were really watching, but it was nice. I could feel the warmth of this body against mine and I felt myself beginning to breathe in time with the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest.

That's what most of the mornings were like during my maternity leave. Just me, Toby and our beautiful baby daughter. All of our mornings were like that. Until I went back to work.

...and then it all changed
