After the rain

Poseidon froze. The walls of his kingdom shook. He gazed around, the Merpeople all stopped up and watched the walls as they shook. They watched their houses as they shook. A guard swam over to his king.

"My Lord, what is it that is happening?" He asked with wide eyes.

Poseidon looked at the merman. His eyes held sadness. "I don't know." He said slowly. He watched as dust slowly floated down to the bottom of the sea. "Make sure nothing falls apart and that nobody is hurt." He looked at the merman, "I will go to Olympus to check what is happening." He spoke.

"Yes, my Lord." The merman bowed and quickly swam off.

Poseidon glanced around, a nervous ache in his heart as he flashed to Olympus.

Poseidon appeared in the large throne room. He grew forty feet tall in the matter of seconds as he marched up to the thrones. Zeus, his brother, was lazily draped across his throne with a bored expression on his face.

"What did you do?" Poseidon asked him, anger lazing his usually kind voice.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Zeus spoke without a care in the world.

"Yes, you do." Poseidon took a step forward. "What did you do to him?" He asked.

"Who?" Zeus eyed his brother.

"My son. What did you do to him?" He raised his voice. His trident appeared in his hand as he stared at his brother. Waves crashed inside of his eyes. The Earth shook underneath them.

"Brother..." Zeus spoke slowly.

"What did you do!" He yelled. He grabbed Zeus by the throat and threw the God across the room. The king of the Gods collided with a pillar. He shakingly got to his feet and dusted himself off. Poseidon shook with rage.

"Brother... I can assure you that..." Zeus didn't get to finish before Poseidon marched over to him and threw the trident down, catching Zeus' throat between two of the three spears.

Zeus stared with wide eyes up at his brother.

"What. Did. You. Do. To. My. Son." Poseidon spoke slowly, his voice a low grumble.

"I did what I had to!" Zeus spoke frantically. Clear panic was set in his eyes as he watched his raging brother.

Poseidon stared down at him with nothing, but pure rage.

"He was a threat! We couldn't trust him!" Zeus wailed.

The Olympians slowly appeared a few feet away from the two brothers and watched the scene play out in front of them.

"I had to kill him!" Zeus cried.

Poseidon stared at him. The waves down on Earth crashed into the shores. Tsunamis plagued the beaches. Earthquakes broke the surface of the Earth. But it didn't match the rage and sadness Poseidon felt in that moment. The moment where Zeus confessed to killing his son. His son who had a bright future ahead of him.

"I killed Perseus Jackson!" Zeus yelled. "We could not trust him!" he looked behind his brother at the other Olympians, "You get me! He had to die! He was untrustworthy! He was being controlled, he-"

"He was being controlled!" Poseidon yelled, interrupting his so-called brother. "It was not his fault that he did the things he did! It was clear that he was being controlled!" He yelled. Tears streamed down his cheeks. "He was innocent!"

"Athena! My child. Talk some sense into my brother." Zeus pleaded and gazed at Athena.

She raised her head, holding her chin high. She looked at her father. "I am deeply sorry, but you are in the wrong, father." She spoke and walked up next to Poseidon. "We might hate each other, but I fully support Poseidon in this matter." She looked down at her father who was trapped by the Sea God's trident.
