Chapter #33

The woods are one of the most dangerous places you could be, especially at night and in a foreign place. The monstrous things that hide in it are a small part of the horrifying actions that take place there when the sun hides in the horizon. It's no secret that most of the terrible things that happened to the Beacon Hills kids, and not only, took place in the middle of the woods.

It's weird, but also scary how things repeat themselves.

Among the branches, the sun's rays gently fall on the floor of green grass covered by the leaves of the trees that surround it. A light wind tugged at a brunette hair, its strands laying messily on the ground. The coldness of the wind caresses the soft skin of the girl laying unconscious in the middle of the forest as the sun's rays slowly fall upon her.

The cold feeling reaches through her grey sweats and long-sleeved top causing her skin to have goosebumps and eventually stirring her awake. Yn brings her hand up to block the sunlight from her vision as she sits up on the patch of green grass in the woods. Realising where she is, the Martin girl quickly stands up her eyes wide as she looks around to make sure this is real and not a dream.

"Fuck." She breathes, confirming it isn't, actually a product of her imagination. "How the hell did I get here?" She murmurs under her breath, looking down at her clothes to remember what has happened the previous night. The events of yesterday are a little foggy and it definitely has something to do with the pounding headache she has.

Yn firstly remembers she was at a party and she got slightly drunk. Then she was with Hope and... "Oh God." Her hands fly up to her head when she remembers the night she spend with the Mikaelson. A weird sensation settles in her stomach and she assumes are butterflies she's feeling. Her hands go through her hair as she reminisces what happened after.

She woke up in the middle of the night cuddled with Hope, her throat was dry and she had an immense headache, so she decided to go to the kitchen for a glass of water. She got out of bed slowly and very gently to not wake up the sleeping auburn and went to the closet to get some new clothes.

Yn looks down at her cosy clothes and brushes off the dirt that got stuck onto the fabric. She realises she's barefoot and the chilly air of the morning isn't helping, plus her abdomen isn't covered due to the shortness of her shirt. The soft sound of birds chirping brings the girl back to the present moment, announcing that it's time for her to move.

Her steps start of slow, not knowing in which direction she should be heading but then she hurries her walk into a jog. The far away sounds of teenagers chatting indicate that she's not so far away from the Salvatore school. It didn't take long for the girl to stop in her tracks because of the steps she heard around her. It sounds like running and it comes from multiple directions, like something is surrounding her. When she looks around to see what's out there all she can decipher from the movements are fast moving shadows in the shape of humans. Yn's breathing becomes more shallow as she hears them— whoever they are —getting closer to her. She clenches her jaw and her fists, preparing herself mentally if it comes down to a fight, but her fast heartbeat doesn't let her calm down.

As she looks around in her hectic state, she starts backing up but trips over an object behind her and falls backwards, hitting her head on a hard surface. Yn groans as she encompasses the back of her head from where a throbbing pain spread to her forehead, making her headache worse. As she tries to get up and open her eyes, her vision blurs from the impact, but goes away after a few forced blinks. The girl inspects the object she tripped on from her current sitting position and a muffled scream escapes from her throat.

She stumbles to get off of the huge tree stump that seems to have appeared out of nowhere, its surrounding roots and a small part of its surface covered with corpses. Dead teenagers are scattered around the big chunk of tree— which Yn assumes is the Nemeton by the looks of it —some of which the brunette recognises. There's Tracy Stewart, Donovan Donati and a few others from when the pack encountered the Dread Doctors for the first time, but also some new faces. Sam Morris, the chimera that attacked Hope and Lizzie, the boy from the woods that tried to kill Yn—but with no success— and...
