Mike POV

Hawkins

I woke up in the middle of the night and stand up making sure not to step on anyone as I quietly go upstairs and hear voices.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Are mom and dad awake?" I whisper as I walk closer to the kitchen and recognize that the voices, I am hearing are Max and Luke.

I hide behind the wall before either one notices me.

"You haven't answered my question what were you and Nick doing in a cave?' Max angrily whispered.

Luke sighs, "There is a secret spot in a cave that only a few selective members of the Goode family knows and are shown when they are of age. Nick is one of the few members of our family that have been selected to be shown and now that he is of that age I can show and tell him. Maya had no clue I was going to be in camp, but Nick did know I swore when I called him the day, I left Hawkins to not tell anyone that I was going to be there because I knew if he told Maya she would've called you and you would've begged me to take you with me."

"When Steve told me that you left first Hawkins to go visit Maya and Nick. I was pissed off but also felt betrayed... you knew how much I missed Maya, and you didn't ask me if I wanted to go. Steve told me why you didn't ask me to go the first time you went, and his reason made sense but knowing you went a second time and gain didn't ask if I wanted to join." Max pauses and continues, "You could've brought me along I would've spend time with Maya while you and Nick went to the cave." She exclaimed.

The kitchen remains silent. I peek and see Max glaring at Luke. Her arms crossed while Luke looks calmly at her. Max was clouded with anger that she didn't see the guilt in his eyes. I noticed Luke's hands inside his pockets something he only did when he's lying.

"Max, you may not know it, but you should be thanking me for not asking you to come with me to Camp NightWing." Luke tells her making Max falsely chuckle, "Your right I should be thanking you for not asking me to come it's not like I haven't been missing Maya this summer. So, thank you Luke Goode. However, can I repay you?" Max sarcastically asked.

"Max, I say this for your own good just drop it." Luke sternly tells her.

I made my presence known before Luke could answer.

"What are you two doing up? It's the middle of the night." I asked walking to the kitchen I open the refrigerator to grab a bottle of water and close the refrigerator door.

Max glances at Luke before looking at me.

Max opens her mouth to tell me but Luke answers first, "We were just having a discussion about the Mind Flayer." Luke lies to me.

I nod pretending that I believe him Max scoffs and leaves the kitchen she bumps Luke's shoulder as she goes downstairs to the basement leaving Luke and I alone.

I blanky stare at Luke as he avoids my stare and looks at the kitchen counter.

"I overheard yours and Max conversation." I tell him cutting to the chase he looks at me surprised as well with a hint of nerves.

I walk towards Luke and stop now face-face with him.

I stare at Luke, someone who viewed as not only a best friend but as an older brother, would play D&D, and protect us but that all changed once he started high school and befriended Steve Harrington. After Steve cut off ties with Luke his behavior became worse when he and Billy became friends.

"I know that you lied to Max and don't try denying it I know you pretty well, Goode. It was a dick move not asking Max to come with you to visit Maya and Nick when you know Max and Maya miss each other." I tell him feeling bad for Max.

Sure, Max and I do not get along and I do blame her for being the reason that El broke up with me, but I understand how Max is feeling being apart from the person you like is hard but for Max and Maya it must be even harder since the two love each other but don't realize it yet.

Luke continues to remain silent I scoff and start to walk away but stop realizing this is my chance to let out all my hatred I felt towards him.

"I hate you so much. It's not just because how you turned your back on us." I shook my head, "No it's because how horrible you treated Maya. I still cannot comprehend how she forgave you after all the pain you caused her. You treated your little sister like filth. How can you stand by and watch as that homophobic beats up your sister." I pause and continue talking, "Oh I know because you're a homophobic piece of shit as well. Did you think I forgot hearing you call Maya slurs to her face. She cried in my arms once you left her room." I tell him remembering the hurt on Maya's face and her loud cries as I held her in my arms, he looks away ashamed of his actions.

"The only reason everyone else tolerates you is because of Maya forgiving you that's the only reason but if they knew what you said to her, they would turn their backs on you in a heartbeat. The only reason that I haven't said anything is because Maya made me promise to her to not to tell anyone what you said to her. No matter how many times you tell us sorry it will never make up for what you done. "I tell him before pushing him away making him stumble back.

I glare once more at him before walking away from him and go downstairs to the basement hoping to get some rest.
