Friendship Part 2

Maya POV

I was sitting on a tree branch staring at the sunset. I decided to skip lunch not wanting to see Ziggy yet for I felt guilty for snapping at her when she was just asking if I'm okay.

I'm knocked out of my thoughts when I hear footsteps coming this way I look down and see it is Ziggy.

"Figured you'll be here." Ziggy says looking up at me, "You know me so well, Berman." I replied making her chuckle.

"Move over." She said before she climbs up the tree, I scoot over to make room for her, and she sits beside me.

"I'm sorry." I apologized Ziggy turns her attention to me, "I shouldn't have snapped at you. You just wanted to make sure if I was okay and instead of being glad that you care about me, I snapped at you."

We sit in silence as we looked at the sunset.

"It's fine, Maya. I'm not mad at you." Ziggy assures me, "I'm not going to push you to tell me what happened between you and Nick. Just remember I'm here for you if you want to talk." Ziggy tells me.

"Thank you, Ziggy."

Ziggy playfully bumped my shoulder, "Your welcome."

"Nick and I were arguing because I asked him to go to Hawkins with me once camp is over and to stay there for the remaining of summer break, but he said no that he wants to go home and relax in his bed." I angrily tell her lifting my head off her shoulder.

"Why do you want Nick to go with you so badly?" Ziggy asked confused, "Because I'm scared." I blurted out receiving a shocked look from Ziggy.

Before she could question me, I continue speaking, "My friends and I are entering high school and I'm scared that will drift apart... that will different interests and no longer want to hang out with each other. That's why I wanted Nick to come with me because it be like how it was before. If there is a chance that what's going to happen then I at least want one last time were we are all together."

I twiddled my thumbs thinking how much it hurt if my fears came true. Sure, I know I'll have Max and El with me but not having Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas by my side will absolutely kill me. The five of us have been best friends since elementary school and the thought of the five of drifting apart is something I don't want to happen we been through too much to let that happen but high school changes people. Luke is an example of that once he started high school, he became a different person didn't help that becoming friends with Billy made him change even more.

Ziggy POV

I remained silent hearing Maya tell me her fears of drifting apart from her friends. Before I would have no clue how it feel losing a friends but when I think of the possibility of Maya no longer talking to me or calling, sending me letter once we leave camp that the one person who cares for me and is the first friend, I've made no longer wanting nothing to do me it made me feel afraid.

I place my hand on top of Maya's hand, and I felt that small spark again as she looks at me.

"I can't promise you anything but what I can tell you is that the way I hear you talk and look when you talk about your friends, I don't see you and them drifting apart. Sure, friends drift apart once they enter high school, but I don't see it happening with you guys." I try to assure her.

Maya looks up at me with a smile on her face.

"Thank you." Maya says again and unexpectedly kisses my cheek.

"You're welcome, c'mon let's go back to our cabin. I told Alice to drop off food for you since you missed lunch." I tell her looking away so she can't see I'm blushing.

"Always looking out for me, huh." Maya says as she climbs down the tree, and I follow behind her.

"Well, someone has to look out for you, Goode." I teased her.

We walk back to our cabin when we hear a certain Goode nearby.

Before I could tell Maya to keep ignore it and continue walking, she runs to we're the voice is coming from.

"Maya get back here." I yelled chasing after her.

"How is she so fast?"

I finally managed to catch up to Maya to see her and Will argue with each other while a light skinned brown haired boy that looked to be around our age stands behind Maya.

That's when I recognize him as Asher, a Shadysider that I have classes with but never talk to.

Will angrily looks at Maya, "Of course you'll have to show up and ruin the fun." Will says and looks over her shoulder, "Oh and of course you brought along the witch."

Maya responds by unexpectedly kicking him in the balls causing Will to fall to the ground in pain.

Maya grabs Asher hand and runs towards me she grabs my hand along the way and continues to run ignoring Will cursing at us.

Maya let's go once we stopped in front of mine and Maya's cabin.

"Are... you... okay?" Maya asked between breaths Asher gives her a thumbs up as he takes deep breaths from all the running.

"My name is May- "

"Maya, I know and you're Ziggy." Asher said receiving a confused look from Maya.

"I'm Asher." Asher said sticking his hand out, "Nice to meet you, Asher. You know Ziggy?" Maya asks as she shook Asher hand and let's go.

"We go to the same school." I tell her, "And we had classes together." He added.

"Well, it was nice to meet you, Asher. If Will or any of his friends give you any trouble I'll be happy to deal with them." Maya assures Asher.

"I thought you're job was bailing me out of trouble not you getting into a lot of fights." I muttered Maya must've heard me because she softly hits me behind my head.

"Asshole." I said rubbing the back of head as Maya smirks and Asher looks amused.

"Thanks for the save, Maya. See you in school Ziggy." Asher says waving goodbye.

Maya and I wave goodbye I only do it so Maya won't get upset with me. I look at Maya and see her eyes widen for a split second before she stops waving and turns around to walk back inside the cabin.

"C'mon Zig I'm starving." Maya tells me.

It's now getting close to curfew night time Maya and I were laying her bed talking about Color War that was approaching soon.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"I'll get the door it's probably Cindy." I said getting up from bed and walking towards the door I open the door and see Nick holding a notebook and pencil.

"Hey Zig-"

I cut Nick off by slamming the door in front of his face.

"Ziggy!" Maya exclaimed getting up from bed.

"He was jackass Maya are you really going to open the door?" I asked her and she answers my question by opening the door.

Maya POV

I open the door and see Nick looking at me with remorse.

"If you're not still mad at me for being a jackass towards you. Do you want to go to my cabin and help me start planning our next campaign." Nick nervously asks me.

I stare at him and back at Ziggy who watches curiously. She sighs and nods.

"Thank you." I mouth.

"C'mon let's go." I excitedly said grabbing Nick hand and drag him to his cabin to get started in the campaign.

We particularly spend the entire night laughing and eating snacks that Nick stole from the Mess Hall as we thought of a new campaign that it brought back memories of before.

A/N

Was gonna finish the chapter tomorrow but just saw on Twitter that the actors strike is officially over. Which means here comes Stranger Things Season 5!!! Hope the cast starts filming this year so hopefully the new season will be released next year.
