Shit.

We looked at each other and then behind us. There, the only and real King Daechwita was standing there, looking at us with an angry expression. I gulped and didn't know where to look. 'Your Majesty, we're actually so so-' I tried to explain, but the King cut me off. 'Shut up!'

He approached me and pointed at me with his index finger. 'You have no right to speak a single word! I've let all your faults and mistakes go, because I thought you were able to change. I sent you to a school, for free, thinking it would help. But no, it didn't help a little bit! You even had the audacity to enter MY room and laugh, doing nothing here?!' He said with a deep, growling voice.

I stole a glance from Winter, who was frozen in shock. I understood that I had to save us both out of this situation alone. 'Listen, you freaky girl! I've had enough of your stupid mistakes! You are a burden, a huge, complete trouble! I'm assuming this was your idea, right?' He said. I just nodded, hoping to save at least Winter out of this.

'That other girl can go. Tomorrow I want you in the throne parlor at exact eight o' clock!' He said with a loud, deep voice.

I could've known. I'm gonna get killed now.

I didn't react and bowed, while nodding. Probably the last time of my life. 'Leave my room, NOW!' He shouted, and we both hurriedly left the with tension filled room. 'I repeat it, as I'm going to die either way, your Majesty, I'm so sorry, it wasn't my intention to make you mad.' I said, while passing him.

'Tomorrow you have the right to explain.' He just said.

When we left the room, Winter grabbed my arm, her face filled with horror. 'What will happen now?' She asked, terrified. 'With you? Not much, I assume. I made the fault to enter his room. If he decides to punish you, I'll do my best to prevent it. Trust me.' I said.

'Trust you, yeah. Of course. After this, I'm really able to trust you!' Winter said, triggered. I flinched by her angry tone. But I could understand her anger. I dragged her with me in that room and probably brought her in many problems. 'I'm so sorry...' I did an attempt to get her forgiveness.

But I knew it was useless. 'I won't accept your sorry! You're a pathetic bitch! I bet you wouldn't have done it without me, so you would get the punishment for you alone. Congrats on being such a moron! Dragging me along, so it would look like we did it together!' She shouted.

'We did! Yes, I know. I suggested the plan to go into his room, but you never disagreed or something! You just willingly joined me. Actually, I have to make him punish you too! But as I'm not a idiot like you, I won't do that.' I spat.

Winter's face was filled with anger, I knew that she wasn't able to think clearly right now, as she was being blinded by anger. But at that moment I didn't care either. Maybe I was blinded too, I don't know. 'Get out of my eyes, right now!' I shouted.

'Oh, so now you're putting all the blame on me?! I never did anything wrong! But okay, I won't show my face to you anymore. I'm done with this friendship, even though it was for a day. I won't talk to you anymore!' She said and turned her back to me.

I watched her walking away. I suddenly realized what I said. 'Wait! Winter! Stop right there!' I shouted. But she ignored me and kept walking. I scoffed, looking at her quirky figure, walking away.

She didn't even know where the exit was.

AT NIGHT:

I couldn't even close one eye that night. Even though I was acting nonchalantly, I was actually so terrified and scared for what would happen the next day. As I could sense from the King's anger, I knew I wasn't going to die a fast death. He would torture me to my death, and that would be a very painful, slow one.

I suddenly jolted up, eyes widened in fear, when I realized what would exactly happen to me. 'No, no, no... I can't!' I whispered. 'I have to escape!' I told myself. I didn't hesitate once. I stood up from my bed and quietly searched for a bag or a basket. Luckily, I found a basket in the corner of the room. I had to be quiet, as I shouldn't wake up any guards, maids and especially the King!

I quickly gathered some clothes and put them in the basket. I opened the door and cautiously watched if there were maybe some guards there. But I didn't see one and quickly ran (as quietly as I was able to) towards the staircase. I didn't see any guards in the hallway either...

I quickly made my way towards the kitchen and grabbed some breads, which were prepared for tomorrow, wrapped them in a cloth and put them in my basket. I also took a bottle of fresh milk and an empty jug, for water. I would fill that later, from a local watertap.

I scanned the surroundings once again, before adding two apples and a tangerine in the basket too. I covered the basked with another cloth and then made my way back to the hallway.

Shit.

There were some guards now. I had to sneak out of here, without getting caught. I ducked down and silently made my way towards the exit. When a guard suddenly looked at my direction, I ducked more down.

Shit. He saw me.

I saw the light of his torch flickering over the designed floor. I held my breath for so long, that I felt my heart having trouble with pumping. I was afraid that he would hear my slow heartbeats. I just looked at one point, trying not to focus on the guard.

'Oh. I thought I saw something moving there, but now I see nothing.' I heard his sleepy voice. 'It'll be a hallicunation, you're having lack of sleep.' another guard answered. Yes, please believe him! I told him in my thoughts. 'Yeah, I have. But I usually never have hallicunations...' The guard said.

'One time has to be the first time, right? Now focus on your work.' The other guard said with an annoyed voice. 'Sorry Garreth.' The one guard said. I carefully looked along the pillar behind which I was hiding and saw the two guards standing with their backs faced to me.

I wanted to breath out, but then I realized that they could hear me. So I carefully sneaked to the exit door, which was luckily open, and glipped out of the huge palace. I almost wanted to exhale, but my happiness was already crushed when I saw two other guards standing right in front of me.

They looked at me with a look which said: Are you crazy or do you only look like it? 'What are you doing here?' One of the guards said. I almost wanted to slap him and command him to be quiet, but I quickly shut my own mouth. 'U-uh... Good evening, misters! H-how are you both?' I asked with a sheepish grin.

'First anwer his question!' the other guard said. I flinched and looked back in an instant, to see if the other guards had heard him. But luckily they didn't, I guess. 'Uh, I'm just going out for a while, I'll be back soon!' I whispered. 'Why so mysterious?' A guard asked. 'I'm not being mysterious!' I said, trying to be confident. But I was sure it was sounding like I was almost being devoured by a hungry lion.

'She's upto something. Catch her.' One of the guards ordered.
