IDRIS POV:
'I'm sending you to a manners- and etiquette school for three months.'
What? A manners school? Was I really that bad? 'You think I would not notice the uncountable mistakes you've made, but I did. I only tried to ignore it for once, as I knew about your past. But now I think I've waited long enough. You don't learn anything, you just keep creating problems. You may speak of a miracle that I didn't kill you.' The King said.
I looked down, trying to let this information work in on me. 'I'm so sorry, Your Majesty...' I whispered. Yes, I was indeed happy that he didn't kill me. But I felt devastated by the fact that he knew of my faults all along. 'I'm thanking you for the offer, Your Majesty, but... I don't have money or anything to pay the school.' I said.
'You're going for free.' the King just simply said. I widened my eyes, as I knew that etiquetteschools were quite expensive and only rich kids were going there. 'It's my school, so you'll just go there, tell them your name and they'll know you're sent by me.' He said.
I just nodded, not able to express an emotion as there were too many in my head.
TWO WEEKS LATER:
It was my first day at the etiquette school, and I was really nervous at this point. A maid brought me a special school dress I had to wear. It was still a simple dress, but for me it was almost a royal outfit.
I only felt a bit uncomfortable by the pulled down sleeves, which were exposing a lot of my shoulder, in my opinion. But, as I heard from the maid, all the girls there were wearing these dresses, so I didn't have to feel so weird about it. And then the corset.
The maid who was dressing me pulled the corset so thight that I couldn't even breathe properly. When I asked her to loosen the corset a bit, she shook her head and said: 'Your corset must be as thight as possible, otherwise you're considered rude, lazy and disrespectful, as you don't put any effort in your outfit to look good.'
I just sighed and tried to get used to the heavy way of breathing. The maid also gave me a pair of shoes with a two inch heel. They were just black with a little golden coloured embroidery work at the nose. I admired them, as I've never worn those shoes. I used to walk on worn out shoes or just walk on my bare feet.
I did an attempt to walk on these shoes, but I immediately stumbled. The maid grabbed my arm and shook her head. 'You should not walk like this. You either place your whole feet on the ground in one go, but that's not the best way to walk. You have to place your entire heel first and then the rest.' she instructed me, and I followed.
It finally worked and after a few steps I got used to the feeling and the way of walking. I thanked the maid and walked towards the main hall. I saw Miss. Celia standing there, waiting for me. I bowed to her. While she was leading me towards the carriage, she whispered in my ear: 'You look stunning!' I blushed a bit by the compliment and thanked her.
A few minutes passed until we arrived at a big building. I was almost gaping at the beauty of the building, but I held it in, as I thought it would be considered weird or something. The equestrian extended his hand for me, as I exited the carriage. Miss. Celia stepped out by herself.
We didn't say anything to each other and made our way to the entrance. Miss. Celia ringed the bell three times. After a few seconds, the door was opened by a chique dressed woman. 'Ah, a new student?' She said.
'I'm leaving you here alone now, Idris. Good luck.' Miss. Celia said. I took a deep breath and bowed to the woman in front of me. 'Yes, ma'am. My name is Lee Idris.' I said. 'Idris, welcome!' The woman said in a friendly tone, but her eyes didn't speak of kindness. I saw some students in the yard and inside. Their eyes checked me out and judged me.
I immediately knew why, because compared to them, I was dressed poorly. The girls all wore beautiful and detailed gowns which almost reached to their feet and the boys were dressed in a beautiful royal-looking costume which almost blinded my eyes, because of the shiny polished metals which were attached to their suits.
I tried to ignore it and followed the woman towards her cabin. We entered a beautiful decorated room, which almost looked like a royal room. The woman sat behind a beautiful carved table and took out a parchment, a goosefeather and a inkwell.
'Your name, please?' She asked. I was kind of confused, as I just told her name at the entrance. But I shove the thought away and told her my full name. She wanted to know some more things, like my date of birth, place of birth, parents' name (which I couldn't give as I just found out I never had parents) and so on. She wrote it all down.
The woman looked at me with judging eyes as I answered her last question. 'Hmm... And the reason why you came to attend this school?' She suddenly asked. 'Uh-... I was sent, ma'am.' I answered. 'By who?'
'His majesty the King, ma'am.' I answered.
The woman suddenly shot up from her seat, slammed her hands on the table in shock and looked at me. Her eyes spoke of rage and fear. She pointed her perfect, but now shaking index finger at me. 'You.... You... H-How dáre you! How dare you to say that! How dare you to misuse the name of our majesty the King! You just commited a crime, young lady!' She said in a high tone.
I looked at her, confused. Why was she this angry at me? What did I do? I didn't even commit a crime! 'Ma'am, I really have no idea what you're talking abou-'
'Shut it! I don't want to hear your sinful voice! You just used his majesty the King's name to take advantage of it! I'll convey this to his majesty the King himself, and wait for it, you little rude girl!-' she arched over the table, closer to me, '-You'll get the punishment you deserve! Death!' She spit in my face.
'But miss, I'm really sent by the King! I worked as his maid but he thought he should've sent me here because I had no manners and-' I tried to explain, but the woman (she didn't even tell me her name yet!) interrupted me again. 'Precisely, that's the problem! You have no manners! You're not raised, because you have no parents. And I can see the results of that!'
Ouch. That hurt.
Unknowningly, a tear escaped my eyecorner as she threw those harsh words towards me. The woman shrugged and went to her garderobe, took her cloak and grabbed my wrist. 'I'm going to tell all of this to his majesty the King, right now! And you're coming with me!' She growled.
