Love in the frosty air

Y/N pov:

I take a deep breath, but I'm still not asleep. It's Christmas Eve and I can't sleep. Alessandro has his arm around my waist, but his breathing is still normal.

"You're not asleep, are you?" his deep voice asks.

"Nope," I say, my lip rolling out and making a popping sound.

The sound of snow hitting our window makes me shiver, and I pull Alessandro closer towards me for warmth.

"We should go to sleep. Christmas is tomorrow," Alessandro mumbles into my neck, his breath bringing me some warmth.

"True, but the snow outside makes me want to build a snowman," I say.

"With a carrot and a scarf," he laughs.

"Yes. Oh my God, we should do that," I say, getting out of his arm and going into my cupboard.

"Come back, my body's getting cold," I hear his voice call out.

I grab some warm clothes for myself. I change out of my silk pyjamas into a matching light grey tracksuit set and put on one of Alessandro's motorbike jackets. Coming out, I find Alessandro still lying on the bed and stumble upon a pink scarf I never wear.

"Come on, this will be fun. I'll get the carrot and you get dressed," I say, pulling him out of bed as best I can.

"You're cute when you're bossy," he says, tapping me on the top of the head and marvelling at the height difference.

"I'm not bossy," I say.

"Oh, I like sassy too," he says smugly. I go to reply, but he silences me with a kiss.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I love it. It escalated into a make-out session. It was only when we were both out of breath that we let go.

"I'll get changed and you get the carrot," he says, resting his forehead against mine before walking away.

I pause briefly before remembering my task. I find the perfect carrot for the nose and walk into the main area to see Alessandro holding the scarf.

"I almost forgot this," he says.

"Yeah, thanks. Let's go."

Walking through the front door, we pass the gate guard and head to the park to build the snowman.

"I still can't believe we've been living together for a year. It's insane," I say.

"It made perfect sense to me. You had graduated and were still living at home, but spending most of your nights at my old place," he says, pulling me into a side hug.

In the distance, we heard the familiar sound of jingle bells being played on the trumpets.

"Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh, hey, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh," we sang along.

"You're so pretty when you sing," he said, looking happily down at me.

I smiled, a warm pink blush spreading over my cheeks.

"Is my pretty Christmas girl blushing?" he said jokingly.

I am.

"No," I said.

"Are you sure, pretty girl?" The question makes it worse.

"No, I mean yes," I say, stumbling over my words.

"Don't be shy princess, I love your singing. It is much better than Carlo's singing, and that has been stuck in my head for a week now."

"That's true. I heard Carlo sing a few days ago, and it sounded like the impression of wounded animals."

We keep walking until we see the perfect place to build our snowman.

"How about right here in the middle of the park, so we can see it from our window in the morning?" Alessandro suggests, and I agree.

"You roll the snow into balls, and I'll find sticks and rocks," I say.

"Why do I have to do the rolling?" Alessandro complains.

"Because you are the one with the big muscles. Now go on," I say, patting his muscle and going to find what I need.

I find sticks for the arms and little stones for the smile and eyes. I walked over to where Alessandro had built the snowman. It was almost as tall as me.

"If any more snow falls on it, it could be taller than you," he says smugly, and I punch him in the arm.

"Step aside and let me work."

I place everything perfectly and step back to admire my amazing work.

"We should give him a name," I say.

"Maybe Nicholas?" he suggests.

"Yes, Nicholas."

"We should get home before it is far too late to go to sleep and wake up early in the morning," he says, leading me by my waist out of the park.

We walk back in silence until I feel Alessandro put his hand on my stomach.

"Alessandro!" I shout.

"Yessssssssssssssssssssssss."

"Too cold". I say this while my teeth start chattering.

"But you love me."

"If you don't take your hand off my belly right now, I will."

He cuts me off with a kiss.

"Kiss me?"

"Sure, bear," I giggled.
