The broken promise

Y/N pov:

Today Alessandro and I are going to brunch at a friend's house. It was supposed to be a peaceful car ride with an amazing view, but it wasn't anywhere close to amazing. I am getting very angry at Alessandro because, well, he keeps killing people. Look, I know that this is his job, but for the past three weeks, he has come home covered in blood.

"Princess, I know you're mad at me, and I am sorry," he says, placing a hand on my thigh. I remain quiet because I don't want an apology; I want change.

"How about this? Princess, I promise that I won't kill anyone today."

"Fine," I say while taking his hand off my thigh and placing it in my hand.

-Time skip-

Three hours later at brunch

Ok, so this brunch is, well, nothing really interesting; it's just sort of manageable. Well, it was good to see some of my friends. There were also some people at the table that I'd never met before. It was really awkward because half the table was with our friends and the other half was with people we didn't know, and we were kind of stuck in the middle. I had Alessandro on one side and this guy on the other. I'm not going to lie; this guy is really weird. He's asking me a bunch of weird questions, but I can't get rid of him. I'm waiting for the lunch section of the brunch to start, but it's just a bit awkward.

"So where do you work?" This guy asked me.

"Just an office in town."

"Oh my God, I work in an office in the town too; maybe I'll visit you one time".

"Yeah, maybe."

Yeah, never.

When lunch arrived, it was fine. I guess I was mostly concentrating on eating the food when I can feel this guy getting closer to me, like he's moving his chair, which is so awful.

"So how long have you two been together?" The guy says clearly not getting the immense vibes I was sending him about leaving me alone.

"About 4 years." I say, trying to be as off-putting as possible, turning my back to him and facing Alessandro.

"Only 4 years and only one ring; wow, dude, you need to pick it up." As he says this, this random guy literally puts his hand on my shoulder. Get off me.

"I think I might go outside for a second; I'll be right back," I say, standing up and getting as far away from this guy as I can.

The scenery is really beautiful, with mountains and small huts buried along the hillsides. I was distracted by the beautiful view. I was completely zoned out until I felt someone touch my shoulder, and I stood up straight. I immediately knew who it was. As I turned to face him, I saw his body slowly fall to the ground, lying lifeless with the gunshot wound right in his forehead, executioner style.

I then saw Alessandro walking straight towards me with that smug smile on his face, and obviously I got angry.

"You broke your promise; you told me you wouldn't kill anyone; you just did".

"I didn't kill anyone; the guards did."

"Yeah, because you told them to."

"Correct."

I dropped my head. Sometimes the message of leaving people alone just doesn't get through.

As I look down, I see Alessandro on his knees. Oh my God, he's on his knees in front of me in public. What the hell is going on here?

"Princess, I want you to see," he says, taking my hands in his.

"When I gave you this ring," he says, lifting my left hand and kissing the ring. "I told you that I would always protect you no matter what; that's what I did, Y/N; he made you uncomfortable, and I'm sorry I broke my promise, and I will never let that happen again."

I just sigh, not really knowing what to say.

"Princess, will you forgive me?" he asks. Oh, how could I say no? He is literally on his knees.

"I think so."

"Yes or no?"

"Yes," I say, blushing.

"Good," he says as he stands up. "Because now we have to go and do something much more fun together.

"And what would that be?" I say it, grinning, because I know the answer.

"Oh well, Princess, you will just have to wait and see".
