I stared up at the hazy sky full of so many beautiful fireworks going off left and right in perfect unison. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers filled the air with endless laughter and conversations, lovers cuddling close to one another in sweet exchanges to celebrate the 4th in Derry. The whole Derry Police department practically flooded the event to watch over all the sprinkler holding kids just having a blast without a care in the world, one being Belle. We've grown so close these last couple of weeks, being over there if I wasn't running off with Patrick into the barrens or taking late night bike rides offering heated exchanges in the middle of the kissing bridge.

I stared at my finger from the handmade, clear rings covered in what was now dried blood we used from a cut in the middle of our palms to drench them in, our little way of a 'promise ring' if we did that sort of thing

I stared at my finger from the handmade, clear rings covered in what was now dried blood we used from a cut in the middle of our palms to drench them in, our little way of a 'promise ring' if we did that sort of thing. More like a ring that symbolizes that I'm his, his blood coating the one around my ring finger. I sat casually on a blanket with a picnic basket near the bottom by my converse clad feet, eyeing Bev and the guys sitting near a tree with smiles of summer fun on their faces.

"Having fun Les? Or do you need me to spice it up a bit?" Patrick suddenly snuck up behind me in the little darkness he had to hide in, noting my dad wasn't far off from where I sat, yet, I didn't care

"Having fun Les? Or do you need me to spice it up a bit?" Patrick suddenly snuck up behind me in the little darkness he had to hide in, noting my dad wasn't far off from where I sat, yet, I didn't care. He wouldn't get ultra close since my mom was right next to us. Dad hadn't spoken not one word to her since she moved back, which is probably for the best.
