Chapter 39

Kimberly's pov______________________

Three months have gone by. Elijah and I traveled to Rome and that is where we stayed. We had a small wedding a week after we left. Life has been great. 

I was sitting in the bathtub relaxing when Elijah walked in. 

"My beautiful wife, I brought you lunch" 

"You did? How thoughtful of you" 

I got out and wrapped a towel around my waist. I entered the bedroom and saw a woman sitting on the bed, with tears in her eyes. 

"Please don't kill me" She begged.

I smirked and looked into her eyes. "Sit still and don't scream" I then bite into her neck. I drained her dry. "Delicious" 

"One more thing, we need to return back to Mystic Falls" 

"What why?" 

"Rebekah has informed me that, Mother came back, she turned Alaric into a vampire, and now he wants to kill all of the originals, and tie his life to Elena's"

"Then why should we go back?" 

"Because Damon and Stefan killed Klaus. I want to go get his body back" 

My eyes widen. No way they did that...

We didn't hesitate to drive back home. Well, Elijah drove. It took us all night to get back and we went straight to Elena's.

As we approached her house, she opened the door. Her eyes widened seeing us. "Stefan" She called for him.

"Elijah. Kimberly" Stefan said surprised to see us. 

"Hello again" Elijah said.

"What have we missed?" I asked.

"Let's talk" Elena said as we followed her into the kitchen and sat down. Matt stood by the counter glaring at us. She pulled out her phone called someone and put it on speaker. 

"What's up? Elena?" Damon's voice was heard. 

"Elijah and Kim are here" 

"What do they want?" Damon asked.

"I'll ask again, what did we miss?" I asked.

"Your mother turned Alaric into a vampire and now he is driven to kill your siblings. We hid Klaus's body. But he has a white oak stake" Stefan said.

"All we need to do is to take that stake away from him. Once he's been disarmed, the weapon's in my possession, my family will scatter to the ends of the earth and Alaric will follow us"

"And you'll just run?" Stefan asked not believing us. 

"We've done it before. Klaus and Rebekah spent the better part of 1000 years evading my father. What's another half-century while Elena can live out her natural life?" Elijah asked.

"We finally stopped him, Elijah. After everything he's done to us I can't just let you both bring him back" Elena shook her head. 

"I give you my word, Elena. I will not revive Klaus within yours. nor even within your children's lifetime" Elijah said.

"Perhaps it'll finally teach him some manners" I muttered. 

"Why should she trust either of you?" Matt said bargaining in on this conversation. "All you've done is screw her over" 

"And for that, I'm deeply ashamed but know this. She could've been dead the instant I walked through that door tonight" Elijah said to Matt, then turned to Elena. "So, Elena, I leave it to you to make the decision... whether to trust me or not"
