Chapter 22

Kimberly's pov____________________

Matt woke up, and we agreed to take Tyler to his family's lockup so he could transform without hurting anybody. 

"Is he going to make it?" Matt asked as we ran human speed through the woods. 

"You better not wolf out, it's not time yet" Damon said as his phone rang. "Bad time little brother"

I then listen to their conversation. 

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Saving the day. I figured you'd understand. Just tell Elena to stay put"

"She's already gone, Damon"

"What?"

"Klaus came. He took her"

"I'll take care of it" Damon hung up and we looked at each other in worry.

Tyler was grunting as his bones broke. "Tyler" Matt said as he and Caroline rushed to his side. 

"I don't know if I can hold it off. Get out of here" Tyler said.

"Tyler, it'll be ok" Caroline said.

"Go!" Tyler yells.

"You've got time. We're almost there" Caroline said.

"It's happening, and faster. Tyler's eyes turned yellow as he went to charge at Caroline, but Damon tackled him to the ground. 

They started to attack each other until Damon kicked Tyler off of him.

"Damon?--"

"I'm fine"

"Get out of here!" Tyler yells.

 "Get to the Lockwood cellar. If I held him in, It'll keep him out. If it doesn't, use these" Damon hands Matt the wooden bullets. "It'll buy you a couple of seconds. Go, go!" Caroline and Matt ran off.

"Let's go" I said and Damon and I vamped speed away from Tyler as he was now transitioning. 

As soon as we got far enough away, Damon and I stopped.

"I have to do something first, I'll meet you where the sacrifice is being held" 

"Damon, don't be stupid" 

"I won't" Damon then speeds off.

I vamped to where the ritual was going to take place and I saw Elijah, Stefan, and Alaric there. 

"Elijah" I said and he pulled me into his arms. 

"Where have you been? You've been gone for hours" 

"Damon and I freed Caroline and Tyler, they can't be used for the ritual" 

"My love, you should know, Klaus always has a backup" 

"Guys, come on, we don't have time for this" Stefan said.

"The sacrifice is completed in stages as the full moon sets. First, the werewolf is killed, then the vampire, and finally the doppelganger. Once Elena dies, the cure will be broken. Klaus will become a hybrid" Elijah explains. 

"So when do we attack?" Alaric asked.

"Elena's death will activate his dormant werewolf side. He'll be vulnerable during the transition. Bonnie comes in"

"And you're sure Bonnie will survive this?" Stefan asked.

"If she can deliver him to the brick of death, I'll finish the job myself" 

Stefan got a call.

"Damon, is the sacrifice happening?"

"Oh, it's happening. I tried to stop it but it got complicated"
