Chapter 60

Kimberly's pov______________________

The next morning, Rapheal and I went downstairs. We saw Hayley and Richelle at a big long table with a bunch of food laid out. They were eating.

"What's all this?" I asked confused.

"I don't know. It's just here" Hayley said.

"That's a lot of food" Raph said.

"It's so good though" Richelle said with a mouth full of food. 

"So... which restaurant is missing a compelled chef?" Hayley asked as Nik walked in.

"It was certainly a card I played in the past, but I had no hand in this" Nik asked.

"Oh. Well, then I guess we have Elijah to thank" Hayley said.

"This wasn't my doing" Elijah said as he came down the stairs.

"Then where did all this come from?" I asked confused.

Then a platter started moving and rattling. "Oh!" Hayley said in surprise. Elijah lifted the container and a few birds flew away. 

"What the hell was that?" Hayley asked confused. 

Nik picked up the piece of paper. "An invitation from our mother"

"The last time we went to an event that she threw, she linked us all together and tried to kill us" I said reminding them.

"Really?" Richelle looked at me confused.

"Oh, yeah. She's crazy" I said.

"It is times like this I am glad I never knew my mother" Hayley said.

"We have enough enemies here, and the war from our home is to be fought against my own family" Nik said.

"Your wretched mother and her disciples tried to put a carving knife through our baby's heart. I will happily add to the body count" Hayley said.

"You will do no such thing" Elijah said immediately. "Esther is a matter in the art of possession. We know whose body she currently inhabits. We must decipher her intentions before she finds a new host" Elijah said.

"Well, her last invitation was an assassination attempt on all her children. I think we can assume her intentions are decidedly foul" Nik said.

"Well, then we have... " Elijah looked at his watch. "This afternoon to prepare for the worst" Elijah left.

"Bloom is off the rose, I see" Nik said as he left the room.

"Shut up" Hayley muttered.

"Do I get to go to this?" Richelle asked.

"No" Rapheal and I both said at once. 

"I'm gonna go help Nik out. Take Richelle to train for at least two hours, then you two can do whatever you want for the night" I said and walked out.

I found Nik giving orders already.

"Should we keep the salad course?" I asked.

"Ugh, no. Skip the salad course. Let's not make this dreadful evening any longer than it needs to be"

Hayley then walked in. "So I guess letting Oliver live paid off. He just informed me that your mother has a partner in crime, another witch"

"Building alliances in her quest to destroy us, I imagine" Nik said.

"Why does she hate you so much, Klaus?" Hayley asked confused. "She had six kids. It's not like she has the maternal gene"

"Seven, actually" I said.
