We moved to the city, and I bought a villa for about 7 million credits, settling my parents in. I took them to buy some cars, visited tourist places, and ate out before returning. I decided to give them some exercises I had developed in my last life to help players reach the Refinement Realm and bought them some A-level potions. I informed them I would be living at the university for the time being.
The next day, I went to the university, where I would meet Blackie and Thoughtful Rain—though we wouldn't learn her real identity as our class monitor, Zhao Ruoxi, until later.
I also aimed to become a member of the Big Dipper Training Center to make connections and get my hands on S-level potions and Life Potions.
After some boring tutorials and introductions, we got to the classrooms, where I met Blackie and we hit it off right from the start. The class monitor, however, would take some more time to warm up to me. Afterwards, I decided not to participate in the martial arts club for now, but I needed to enter the school fighting competition to qualify for the city fighting competition. I knew I would win easily; it held no real meaning for me except to make a name and build connections.
Days passed, and I won the school and city competitions as expected. What I didn't anticipate was that Green God's Company was sponsoring the event, and I won a spot in their auction. Thankfully, they were discreet, and with the hype for martial arts still relatively low, no one bothered me about it. I decided to continue making money and training while lying low until I had sufficient self-defense insurance. I knew there were many monsters out there, and I wasn't ready to meet them yet.
I got Blackie a membership card for Big Dipper and had him train with my exercises to grow stronger faster. Without God's Domain launched yet, our improvements were relatively slow for both of us.
I spent some money at the auction to buy Life Potions and even managed to acquire a Water Life Potion. It seemed corporations still hadn't gotten the news about God's Domain; only some people from the upper zones knew. Right now, the only one who had reached Neutralization Grandmaster was the owner of Green God's Company and the sixty guys with him in the greater GD.
My investments in the financial market were very successful, and I opened a company to facilitate matters. I now had about 25 billion credits and expected to reach a hundred billion by the end of the year.
Time passed, and the end of the school year approached, with me dividing my time between studying, training, and investing. My parents thought I should focus on my studies, but I needed at least 20-30 billion credits to secure two opportunities during the summer.
The first one was somewhat easy. As Liang Jing had told me when she started working at the Big Dipper Training Center, one of the major shareholders decided to leave the city and live near his daughter's family after his wife died. People feared the training center would close until they took a loan to buy him out—a loan that nearly caused bankruptcy. Eventually, someone came and paid off the loan after martial arts became mainstream the following year.
The second opportunity was once in a lifetime. It would make major headlines, as the government was selling an island to be developed. That island would later be discovered to hold one of the largest energy vein loads in the world. My friends from Starlink were the ones who developed it, which solidified their position as one of the top 500 corporations worldwide. Even though they didn't buy it initially, they still ended up developing it. I wouldn't let that happen, not after the crap they put me through.
So I told my parents that it was all good and not to worry, as I had everything handled.
After the exams, I met up with Blackie, who had reached the Refinement Realm and was approaching the Water Following Realm. He said, "What a year."
I looked at him and asked, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, at the start of the year, I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that I'd train myself to the bone and discover a whole new world just by meeting you. No matter how I think about it, it still feels weird," Blackie answered.
"Well, maybe it was fate," I answered ambiguously.
"So, do you still plan to have me snoop around guilds and training centers like you wanted?"
He asked this because he felt he needed to pay me back for the membership, potions, and training he had received. I didn't need any payment, but since he'd only known me for a short time, it made sense for him to want to repay me. So I had asked him, after exams, to do some espionage on guilds and training centers I was interested in buying, and to see if anyone was willing to sell their heritage for any of the four Refinement Realms.
I knew that, at most, he could acquire the Flowing Water Realm with money. But if we wanted the Void and Domain Realms, we would need to bleed for them.
The Refinement Realm and Flowing Water Realm are marks of top-tier experts, but the Void Realm is the mark of peak experts and super first-grade guilds, while the Domain Realm signifies apex experts and super guilds. For those people, money isn't that important.
"Yeah, but I need you to keep a low profile. We can't attract attention from any old monsters yet, as I'm not ready," I said, nodding.
"What do you mean, not ready? Didn't you tell me you were beyond the Domain Realm?" he asked in confusion.
"Well, there are some realms of the mind I haven't told you about. They also have four grades: Expert, Special, Master, and Grandmaster. Right now, I'm at the Special grade, and that's only because of the Water Life Potion I got previously," I answered.
While it would be easy for me to get back to the Neutralize Grandmaster realm with my experience in the Realms of Refinement and Truth, plus the Life Potions I acquired from auctions, the Mind Realm is another matter. It requires God's Domain, or special places in the upper zone, along with specific potions. Right now, I don't have access to either, so I can only reach the Special grade. But it won't be for long, as I will make my moves right after acquiring the island.
