I walked over to where Fang Zhenyuan stood, noticing he was still staring at the results board—not at my Mental Strength Master evaluation, but at the high-grade authority I'd received, which surpassed his own.
Just as I approached him, I noticed Xia Wuyuan and Xia Qingying heading toward me.
"Hello, kid. You gave us quite a surprise today. I didn't even think something or someone like you was possible—or even existed," Xia Wuyuan said, not holding back his mix of compliment and curse, as usual. Both of them looked at me as if I were some bizarre creature, while Fang Zhenyuan remained silent.
"Hello. May I know who you are? And should I take what you said as a compliment or a curse?" I replied, smiling.
"Oh, you've got guts. But let's leave that for now. As for you, Fang Zhenyuan, we've decided to reward you with a new basic slot. We thought you might offend another monster and be forced to bring him here," Xia Wuyuan said, turning to the fuming but silent patriarch. After a moment, Fang Zhenyuan sighed and muttered, "Thanks," before turning to leave.
"As for you, little monster, come with us to the middle layer," Xia Wuyuan said, waving toward a waiting limousine. We left as Fang Zhenyuan watched, sighing again before departing.
"So, little monster, to answer your question, I'm Xia Wuyuan, and the shocked one here is Xia Qingying."
Finally hearing her name, she snapped out of her daze. "You really are a monster."
I smiled without answering—it wasn't the first time I'd heard that. I'd started doubting it myself.
"Anyway, while it's a surprise, it's a pleasant one. We've agreed to make an exception and grant you a top-tier mansion. Still, we recommend you don't slack off. Try to break through to the 3-Star Mental Strength Master level. You've already reached 1-Star without the upper zone's conveniences, so it shouldn't be too difficult for you," Xia Wuyuan said with an encouraging smile.
They both seemed genuinely happy, likely hoping I'd become a Mental Strength Grandmaster, which would help them secure more resources in Greater God's Domain. But they also knew that hope didn't always translate to reality—countless others had tried and failed.
"Now, I'll tell you this: as you may have guessed, there's a reason martial arts are gaining hype. We're promoting the idea that those who bring us talents will be rewarded with contribution points and trade points for every recruit, but they must join Green God Corporation. If you have someone in mind, let us know."
"Hmm, but why do you need so many talents?" I asked, already knowing they hoped to nurture a genius who could become the next Mental Strength Grandmaster and help them secure resources in Greater God's Domain.
He fell silent for a moment, glancing at Xia Qingying, who shook her head slightly, unsure how to respond.
"Well, it's difficult to explain—we don't have the authority to disclose everything. But it doesn't seem like a bad deal for you, right?"
"How is it not? I plan to nurture a few experts to form a guild and join the virtual reality world."
"Oh, you're planning something like that? It's certainly a lucrative investment," he said, sounding relieved.
"But it doesn't matter. Even if someone joins Green God, they won't be restricted from joining your guild," Xia Qingying added.
"It seems like this is really important to you, for you to be so heavily invested," I remarked, feigning curiosity.
"Well, you'll understand if you reach Mental Strength Grandmaster or even Half-Step," he said, effectively ending the discussion.
"Now, for your reward: 100 Life Potions and 100 Phantom Potions, or their equivalent."
They didn't elaborate, assuming that someone who'd reached Mental Strength Master would know these things—it was common sense in the upper zone.
"Okay, I'll take 50 Water Life Potions and divide the rest. But I don't need all of them now—can I place a reservation?"
"Of course."
After receiving my rewards, I called Blackie and arranged to meet him. I gave him some potions to deliver to my parents, as well as to Lei Bao, whom I'd recently recruited, and a few executives from my corporations. I even sold some at double the price to Hong Xinyuan, whom I'd met in the middle layer and had a good relationship with in my previous life.
As for the points I'd earned, I immediately applied for access to a mental training house, using the Phantom Potions I'd received in hopes of a quick breakthrough.
Time passed, and in just two months, I achieved the 3-Star Mental Strength Master level and was on the verge of breaking through to Half-Step when my parents called with shocking news: my mother was pregnant.
"What?" I freaked out. I hadn't thought that would be possible, but the Life Water I'd given them had healed their old injuries, and apparently, they'd found some time alone without me. What a surprise that turned out to be!
I kept turning the news over in my mind—I was extremely happy but also worried. Pregnancy at my mother's age carried risks, so I decided to apply for a High 3-Grade Authority and return to the lower layer to ensure they were okay.
A month later, the approval came through. I passed the test and acquired a High 3-Grade Authority, which granted me three permanent reserve slots for the middle layer, five for the basic layer, and one chance to enter the core area. I'd been planning to bring my parents to the middle layer, but the pregnancy complicated things.
"Congratulations. You are, without a doubt, a monstrous talent. When you decide to go to the core area, inform me, and I'll make the necessary preparations," Xia Wuyuan said, clearly impressed.
Almost immediately after the announcement, the entire world took notice—Zero Wing Corporation now had visible, formidable backing.
