Chapter IX (✓)

The familiar sound of lockers slamming and chatter filled the air as Seulgi made her way through the crowded halls of Daegue High School. Backpack slung over her shoulder, she weaved through the maze of students, her mind focused on the day ahead as she parted ways with her cousins.

As she approached her locker, she caught a glimpse of someone who brightened her day instantly. Joohyun stood by her locker, her presence radiating warmth and happiness. Seulgi couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement as she approached the older.

With a mischievous glint in her eye, Seulgi tiptoed silently towards Joohyun's back. She watched as Joohyun rummaged through her bag, completely engrossed in her task. Seulgi eyed her with affection.

Seizing the moment, Seulgi wrapped her arms tightly around Joohyun's waist, pulling her closer. The sudden gesture caused Joohyun to jump in surprise, gasping lightly and nearly dropping the notebooks.

"Seulgi! You scared me!", Joohyun exclaimed, turning to face the younger with wide eyes and she couldn't help but laugh at the older, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"I'm sorry, you just looked so adorable when you were completely focused on your locker.", Seulgi apologized, a playful grin spreading on her face as Joohyun gently smacked the younger for doing so.

"I looked adorable?", Joohyun pointed out at Seulgi pausing as she processed what she had said before blinking.

"I uhh.. Should I not say that?", Seulgi wondered in worry.

"No silly, you can say it. To me only though.", Joohyun responded and narrowed her eyes at the younger.

"Only you, don't worry.", Seulgi assured and opened her locker to put some of her notebooks away for later before quickly finishing.

"If we head to class now we'll be about ten minutes early. We can do that or kill time instead.", Joohyun mentioned after glancing at her watch.

"Class is fine with me, we can kill time in there.", Seulgi replied and Joohyun nodded as they intertwined hands and were about to begin walking.

At least that was until Seulgi heard a familiar voice call out her name in the middle of a busy hallway. Causing her to freeze in her tracks, her mind going blank at the sound of that voice. As she slowly turned around, her eyes widened in disbelief as she saw her ex-lover, Krystal, standing just a few feet away.

"Seulgi!", Krystal called out in excitement and Seulgi just blinked in confusion, not knowing if she was real or not.

Time seemed to stand still as Seulgi struggled to process what was happening. Memories flashed before her eyes, both beautiful and painful, as she locked gazes with Krystal. It had been years since they last saw each other, and now, here she was, right in front of her.

"It's been so long, how have you been?", Krystal approached them with a warm smile, confident and composed, as if no time had passed.

As Seulgi's mind raced to find words to respond, her emotions swirling inside her like a tempest. She took a deep breath, attempting to steady herself before speaking as Joohyun eyed her worriedly.

"You... What are you doing here?", Seulgi asked after a moment of silence and Krystal hummed in amusement at the harsh response.
