Joohyun was born into a world that vehemently despite vampires. Legends and stories of blood-sucking creatures had been passed down for generations, instilling fear and hatred in every human heart.

As she grew up, her parents constantly reminded her of the dangers posed by these supernatural beings, cautioning her to never get too close or ever trust one.

Despite living in a world filled with prejudice, Joohyun remained a kind-hearted and compassionate individual. She believed that the legends and stories were all bogus and exaggerated since there hadn't been a sight of a single vampire in the last few hundred years.

"Bae Joohyun! What have I told you about taking off your necklace?", Ms. Bae exclaimed as she barged into Joohyun's bedroom, holding the necklace up.

"Mom, can you knock next time? And I must've forgotten to put it on after I showered, sorry.", Joohyun informed and stood up to grab her necklace from her mother's hand, but she quickly moved it from Joohyun's reach with a raised eyebrow.

"Joohyun, you can't just be 'forgetting' your necklace anywhere. The world is dangerous out there and without this, you risk being compelled by a vampire. I'm worried about it ever happening.", Ms. Bae stated and Joohyun softly exhaled, understanding her mom's worry.

"I know I know, I'm sorry Mom. It won't happen again, I promise.", Joohyun apologized and grabbed her necklace as she gestured her mom to help put it on her.

"Thank you, dear.", Ms. Bae responded and Joohyun nodded as she held her hair up while her mom put on the necklace before patting her shoulder, signaling her that she was done putting it on.

"Right, how is Dad's campaigning looking like? It feels like I haven't seen him in forever since he's out on meetings and shows.", Joohyun curiously asked as her mom gestured for her to lean in.

"You didn't hear it from me, but it looks like he might be our next mayor.", Ms. Bae excitedly whispered and Joohyun gasped.

"Oh my god, this is amazing! He's come a long way, he definitely deserves to win.", Joohyun responded and her mother nodded in agreement.

"He definitely does, but you should be getting ready for bed since you start school tomorrow. How does it feel to be a senior now?", Ms. Bae questioned as Joohyun softly exhaled.

"Scary, but for the most part exciting. I can't believe it's my last year before I'm off to college.", Joohyun admitted and her mother smiled.

"I'm sure you'll do well, just enjoy it to the fullest and have no regrets by the time you graduate.", Ms. Bae stated and Joohyun nodded.

"I'll make sure to do that.", Joohyun replied.

"Also, before I forget to tell you, me and your father are going on a trip to Seoul to visit some relatives tomorrow. We would bring you along but you have school.", Ms. Bae notified and Joohyun nodded.

"That's fine, tell them I say hi.", Joohyun said.

"I will and we'll also leave some money on the counter for you to use for this week since we'll be gone for some time. Be sure to give us a call if you need anything, good night dear.", Ms. Bae added.

"Night Mom.", Joohyun responded as she watched her mother leave her bedroom before getting back in bed and going back to reading where she left off in her book. At least wanting to finish the chapter before going off to bed.

During Joohyun's high school years, it had been nothing short of perfect. With her exceptional grades, exemplary leadership as the student president, and innate kindness, she became a beloved figure among her peers. Her days were filled with laughter, unity, and support from her classmates, making her feel like she was making a positive difference in their lives.

Now, being a senior and her last year in high school, she was more excited than ever. She knew she would wrap up the year well like she had with the previous ones and nothing or anyone could get in her way to distract her from her goal.

At least that's what she thought.
