Jacket

"Our bus should be arriving soon, everyone have their things?" My mom asks.

"Yep!" I exclaim ready for our vacation to begin.

"Sky, where's your jacket?"

I look around frantically,

The coat is gone.

Shit.

"You better not have left that on the plane. Everyone check your language!" My mom hissed.

She then quickly snatched my iPad from my hands, almost dropping it.

As I look, no sign.

"Where did you leave it on the plane."

"I.. I don't know.." My nose burned, tears formed.

"I said where the fuck did you leave it? That is your ski coat! Do you know how expensive that is?!" She clenched her fists.

"I... think I left it under the seat.." I cry, tears falling down my cheeks.

"Now look what you did." Evan remarks.

I trail behind my family, my eyes red and puffy as I hold on to my coat tightly.

We get on the bus, I lay down.

I glance at my moms hands, and there is lines where her nails dug into her hand when she clenched her fist.

I hold my bags and stuffies, and we arrive to the car rental.

"Evan, how much for a water." She pointed to the vending machine.

"I'll check." He replied, running over.

"Get two." She said, handing him some money.

What about me?

"What about me?" I said, replaying my thoughts.

"There's a water fountain over there."

Oh!

I walk over, and look at the fountain.

There is mold spilling out of the drain, actual mold.

I press the button,

Nothing.

Shit.

I slump back over,

"Did you get some water?"

I hesitate,

"Yeah." I reply.

I look at my feet,

Never. Have I felt so hated.
