Chapter 14 | Torn Between Two Hearts

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐒 thick with tension, drowning out the world and leaving only the two of us in our own private bubble. I could feel the heat of his body as Cole leaned in, his lips just inches from mine. The electricity in the air crackled as I closed my eyes and let myself get lost in the moment. Then, his lips met mine, and for a brief, blissful instant, nothing else mattered.

But then, as quickly as it began, it was over. I pulled away, my heart racing, and looked into his eyes, searching for some kind of understanding. "Cole, we can't do this," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper.

He reached out to touch my arm, but I flinched away, the weight of guilt and uncertainty heavy on my shoulders. "You're with Erin. I'm not going to be one of your late-night hookups," I said, my voice tinged with regret. "I'm sorry."

Cole's expression was a mixture of frustration and longing as he watched me walk away, my steps heavy with the weight of my decision. I heard him call my name desperately, but I couldn't bring myself to turn around.

Cole was everything I had avoided with guys, and as much as I was drawn to him, I couldn't ignore the glaring differences between us. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my thoughts, but my mind kept drifting back to Cole.

When I got back Alex walked into my room. ''Blair I've got a suprise for you come with me'' he begs. ''Alex do I have to I'm tired'' still upset from my interaction with Cole. ''I'm not taking no for an answer'' he says sternly. We make our way to the stables and he has two horses ready. Confused I asked where we were going. And he replied with it was a suprise. We rode on the horses and he told me to close my eyes and directed me through the field. ''Okay now open them'' Alex smiles. I look around at an area full of trees. ''Our own Manhattan'' He looks at it. ''Alex it's beautiful, this is so sweet thank you'' I reply as I begin to cheer up with Alex's gesture.

As the rollercoaster came to a stop, Blair couldn't help but feel a rush of exhilaration and relief. She had needed this distraction, this temporary escape from the weight of her thoughts, and as she glanced over at Alex, she couldn't help but notice the warm smile on his face. He had been nothing but sweet and attentive since they arrived at the amusement park, and his gesture of taking her on the rollercoaster to cheer her up had been perfect.

"Wow, that was amazing!" Blair exclaimed, her laughter bubbling up as she unbuckled her seatbelt.

Alex grinned, his eyes sparkling with a mixture of amusement and genuine joy. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. I figured a little adrenaline rush might do the trick."

As they made their way back to solid ground, Blair found herself laughing and joking with Alex, the carefree energy of the ranch infecting her spirit. It had been so long since she had felt this lighthearted, this carefree, and she couldn't deny the spark of connection she felt with Alex.

Unlike with Cole, there was no sense of unease or doubt hovering over her. With Alex, everything felt right.

Blair felt her heart race as she looked into Alex's eyes. The air crackled with a charged energy, and she could sense them getting closer, both of them leaning in as if drawn together by an invisible force.

In that moment, everything else faded away—the noise of the park, the weight of her worries, and the memory of Cole. There was only her and Alex, and the undeniable pull between them.

As their lips met in a gentle, tentative kiss, Blair felt a sense of clarity wash over her. This was where she was meant to be, with someone who understood her, who made her feel alive in a way she had never experienced before.

In Alex, she had found someone who was perfect for her, someone who made her heart sing and her doubts vanish. I felt a flutter of emotions swirling within me. His thoughtful gesture and the genuine care he had shown me tugged at my heart, yet somewhere deep inside, the memory of the intense connection I shared with Cole lingered, casting a shadow of doubt over my burgeoning feelings for Alex. I hesitated, my mind a whirlwind of uncertainty and longing as Alex's lips were on mine.
