Thudding can be heard throughout the house, as Addie and Nick looked at each other in terror. Why on earth would they come into the house screaming, not knowing who could be in the house."Nick? Addie?" Matt yelled into the room, Addie instantly reaching to open the closet door, only to be stopped by Nick. She looked at him confused, and he just shook his head.
"Fuck, I don't know where they are." Matt sighed as Chris entered the room. Chris frowned, falling to his knees to look under Addie's bed, only to find it empty.
"Did you check the closet?" Chris asked Matt, not surprised when his brother sheepishly shook his head no. Matt walked over and opened the door, finding Addie and Nick sitting on the floor, hugging each other.
"Oh my god, Matt." Nick cried, standing up and hugging his brother. "That was actually so scary." He sighed into Matt's shoulder, feeling another pair of arms circling around his waist. Chris had joined the hug. Addie left the closet, shutting the door behind her, turning to inspect her room to see if whoever was in her room took anything.
Nothing appeared to be taken, she decided after a few minutes, turning back towards the triplets who were no longer hugging. Matt pulled the trembling girl into his side, Addie bringing her hand to his chest and rubbing it, knowing that comforts him when he's anxious.Nick still looked spooked, constantly turning towards the door and taking quick glances around the room.
"Do you know who it was, Addie?" Chris asked the girl, making her shake her head.
"We stayed in the closet the whole time, and whoever it was didn't say anything, didn't take anything.." She trailed off, noticing something new placed next to her tv on her dresser. A vase of red roses, and as she got closer, she noticed the thorns were cut off.
"What the fuck." Nick gasped, instantly hiding behind Matt as if the flowers could reach out and get him.
Chris followed behind Addie, getting a closer look at the flowers. The vase was black, no design or carvings. Addie poked at the flowers, peeking through them to see if there was a card. Chris reached to grab the vase, but was intercepted by Addie smacking his hands down.
"Don't touch anything, especially that." She scolded the boy, backing away from the vase herself.
"We should go to our house and call your parents, Addie." Nick suggested, making her nod in response. It was the sensible thing to do.
The four teenagers began to walk towards her door, when Addie suddenly stopped, making Chris bump into her.
"The fuck, Adeline?" He whined, rubbing his side where Addie's elbow had jammed into.
"What if the person is still here?" She whispered, realizing she never heard them leave. Nick gasped as he immediately turned around and placed himself against the furthest wall from her bedroom door.
"Oh fuck, I didn't even think of that." Matt sighed, pulling his phone out. "I'm gonna call our dad, see if he's almost home." He told the group, making Addie do the same.
10 minutes later, they heard the front door open and close again, Chris immediately pushing Addie to stand behind him. Addie's heart warmed at the kind gesture, even if she was pretty sure her dad had just gotten home.
"Sweet pea?" Gavin yelled into the house, as he started to quickly climb the stairs. Addie let out a breath of relief, walking around Chris and meeting her father in the hallway outside of her room. The father and daughter hugged briefly, before a heavy knock interrupted the hug they were sharing.
