Chris waited a few minutes before attempting to speak, his mind was racing in all the different things he wanted to say. He wanted to bring Addie some sort of comfort, without hurting her feelings in the process.

"I didn't know you when everything went down, and I didn't know your friends. But your parents did, Ads. They were worried about you, and wanted to find you justice." He started, his cheeks heating underneath Addie's intense gaze.

"So you think it was right of them to go on my phone, and talk to my friends about what I was going through?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes. Addie really didn't want to hear this from anyone, let alone Chris.

Chris frowned, "No, I think the way they did it was wrong. They never should've invaded your privacy like that, but they did have good intentions." He explained, making Addie slightly nod to show she was listening. "They need to apologize for that, but in the end they got what everyone wanted for that fucker." He carried on, finally meeting Addie's gaze.

She let a half smile slip onto her face, "When did you get wise? This is so weird."

Chris laughed, throwing his arm around Addie's shoulder, bringing her in for a side hug. "I can be surprising to myself sometimes too." He joked, relishing in the sound of Addie laughing at his joke. He let a grin hang loosely on his lips, suddenly he felt like he was 10 years old again, laughing with his best friend.

"Is it bad to say, I don't want to go back down there?" Addie quietly asked, still leaned into the boy. She was trying her best to ignore her racing heart, how good Chris smelt, how comforting their current position was.

"No," Chris replied, fiddling with the ends of Addie's hair like it was second nature. "If you want, I can go back down and say you need some space." He offered, making Addie sigh lightly.

"Or I can wait until you think of something better, apparently?" He questioned, confused at her reaction.

Addie instantly shook her head, "No that's a great idea, Chris. It's just that.." She trailed off, feeling stupid for what she was about to say. Chris lifted her chin so she would meet his gaze, and she was surprised to see nothing but kindness in his eyes.

"It's just what, Ads?" He quietly asked, letting her chin go. Addie instantly missed the touch, praying that her disappointment wasn't shown on her face.

"I"m scared," She admitted, "Once the door opens, you'll go back to hating me, I've missed you so fucking much, Chris. I can't keep pretending to hate you, when at the end of the day, I love you."

Chris gasped, confused and shocked at Addie's confession. She loved him? He looked at her, absolutely bewildered. His heart was racing at her confession, a warmth spreading across his chest.

Is this what love feels like? He questioned himself, his heart falling as Addie's expression changed.

Addie's eyes widened as she realized what she had said, "Wait no, not like that Chris!" She instantly started to panic, she was not about to get into that conversation when she was already emotionally exhausted. Chris decided she didn't mean it in the way he had hoped, and wasn't going to hold it above her head. This time at least.

Chris shook his head, "It's okay, I know what you meant." He confirmed, making Addie slightly calm down. "I don't hate you either, Ads. I don't like always coming at you sideways, I mean sometimes I find it funny, but not in a way I mean it." Chris admitted, making Addie nod in agreement.

Chris looked at Addie for a few silent seconds, "Truce?" He asked, raising a hand, offering her to shake it. It was something they used to do as kids when they would get in an argument. Addie's heart warmed at the sweet gesture, feeling incredibly nostalgic. She tightly gripped his hand, tears brimming her eyes.

"Aw, don't cry you big baby." Chris teased the girl, bringing her in for a hug. "How about you go to your room, and I'll go tell everyone we're hanging out for a bit. Just the two of us." He offered, bringing Addie to stand with him. She nodded, following him out of the bathroom, and as he went to go down the stairs, she grabbed his wrist.

"Thank you, Chris." She spoke quietly, hoping he could see how much he means to her at this moment.

Chris offered her a smile, "You're welcome, Ads."

Addie let him go, and watched him walk down the stairs before she turned towards her room. She quickly changed into a pair of sweats and a hoodie, and started to take off whatever make up was left on her face. She was brushing her hair when Chris walked into her bedroom.

"How'd they take it?" She asked him, setting her hair brush down on her vanity.

Chris chuckled, "Your parents were happy about it, while my entire family seemed scared about it." He walked over to her bed, immediately throwing himself down onto her bed. Addie snickered as she watched his body bounce with his aggressive landing. Addie walked over, motioning for Chris to scoot so she could join him on the bed, and sitting up against the headboard.

Addie rolled her eyes, "Well did you tell them we called a truce? Shook hands and everything?" She asked him, making him shake his head no. "Why not?"

"That memory is just for us." He smiled softly, shocking Addie. She didn't mind keeping things private, she just didn't expect Chris to want to either.

"So, now what?" Addie asked after a comfortable silence had settled over them. She was seconds away from getting up and rearranging her room, something she often did when she was either bored or stressed.

Chris shrugged, "I dunno, you're the one that wanted me to stay so bad." Addie instantly shot her hand out, lightly smacking him on the top of his head. "You're gonna regret that!" Chris yelled, trying to sit up faster than Addie got off the bed squealing.

"Chris no!" Addie shouted, trying to make it to the other side of the room before he could get his revenge. It was Chris' lucky day, as he watched Addie stumble over her discarded shoes. He grabbed her by her waist, tossing her onto the bed. Addie couldn't help but blush, during he escape her sweatshirt had ridden up, and Chris' hands had made direct contact with her waist.

"You're in a corner, Ads." He spoke lightly, teasing her. A huge smile on his face. "Say you're sorry."

Addie scoffed, doing her best to ignore her racing heart and warm cheeks. "Even if it's a lie?" She replied, being the smart ass she's always been. Chris put his hands on his hips, raising his eyebrows at the girl. She wasn't about to back down.

Chris immediately went in for his attack, quickly climbing onto the bed, his hands digging into Addie's ribs, tickling her. She instantly shrieks in laughter, trying her hardest to get as far away as possible from Chris.

"No! Chris please," She laughed, tears forming in her eyes from laughing so hard. "I'm sorry!" She cried out, making Chris still his fingers. Addie was panting, out of breath from just a minute of nonstop tickling. Chris at some point, had climbed on top of Addie, his knees resting outside of her thighs.

Chris couldn't help but notice how pretty Addie was, her cheeks flushed from laughing. A smile on her face, which hadn't been happening when he's been around her for a while now. He decided he missed it, and would do anything to keep her smiling.

Addie had just caught her breath when she realized this, looking up at Chris questionly. He had gotten unusually quiet, staring down at her. He reached forward, brushing a strand of hair from Addie's face, trailing a delicate finger down her cheeks, finally falling from her face when he reached her chin.

Addie was starting to feel freaked out, "Chris-"

"I have something crazy to say," Chris interrupted Addie, making her shut her mouth so she could hear him out. "I really want to kiss you, Adeline."
