Matt and Addie shared a look, and Matt finally realized Addie had never met Nate since she was gone when Nate switched schools."Nate, this is Addie." He awkwardly spoke, watching his friends eye each other in assessment. "She's gonna sit with me, if that's cool?" Matt asked, knowing Nate would probably be cool with it, since he knows Addie's rough backstory.
"Addie can sit with me!" A cherry voice suddenly spoke, cutting Nate off. The three of them turned around to see none other than Gwen sitting behind Matt, offering them a smile.
"I'll sit with you." Nate replied, giving Addie a small smile in passing. Gwen frowned, not wanting to sit with Nate.
"I said Addie, not you Nathan." Gwen glared over at the boy as he sat down, scooting her bag with his foot, as it was under his side of the desk.
Matt rolled his eyes at Gwen's behavior, knowing she just wanted to try and get under Addie's skin now that she's basically with Chris. Addie gave Gwen a small smile, trying to keep things friendly, before turning back around to face the front.
"Fair warning, she's going to drive you up the wall because she still wants Chris." Matt leaned in, whispering to Addie so Gwen wouldn't hear him.
Addie shrugged, "I know, she called Chris babe when he and I were literally on a date. What a psychopath." She whispered back, laughing at Matt's shocked face. Apparently Chris didn't tell Matt about that when he got home. She doesn't blame him considering what happened when they had come home that night.
"Do you think the teacher will make me introduce myself?" Addie asked Matt after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
Matt shook his head, "Nah, Mrs. Davis is cool." He replied, calming Addie's nerves for the time being.
50 some minutes later the bell rings, and Matt and Addie quickly gather their things to get away from Gwen as soon as possible. She kept kicking Matt's chair trying to get him to turn around and talk to her, and it took everything in him to not go off on her in the middle of class. Nate was the first one out of the room, and when Matt and Addie walked out he joined them.
"Why Chris ever messed around with her beats me." Nate grumbled as the three of them started walking in the direction of Addie's next class. Matt side eyed Addie, trying to gauge her reaction before responding. Addie rolled her eyes at Matt, smiling when she saw Chris speed walking towards her.
"Oh my god, I forgot you didn't know Nate until literally just now." Chris gasped, falling in line with the others.
Nate scoffed in offense, "You didn't talk about me at all over these last few months?" He cried dramatically, leaning into Matt and pretending to sob. Addie let a giggle slip and Nate lifted his head to grin at her. "Any time I saw Chris the last 4 months, it was always Addie this, Addie that." Nate sighed, pretending to be annoyed.
"Yet I haven't heard a word about you yet." Addie replied, dodging Matt's elbow as he rolled his eyes at her jab.
"I don't mean anything to you guys, do I?" Nate jokes, stopping outside of his next class. "I'll see you guys at lunch." He softly waved before heading into the classroom.
Addie turned to Chris once the three of them stopped by Addie's next class. "You know you don't have to come find me after each class right?" She asked, as she watched Chris lean against the wall. Chris nodded, letting a small smile grace his lips.
