(Y/n's Intro)

For a long time I've been told that soulmates are two halves that make the other whole.
That is why when you see one another, you know they're the one. Because both parties hold the missing piece the other's been searching for their entire lives.
For years, I believed in what people were telling me.
But then I saw what happens when the person you love isn't your soulmate, it completely destroys you.
So I vowed then, that If fate will be so cruel, then love is my enemy and I'll never succumb to its treacherous, deceitful nature.

(Y/n's pov)

Dawson Leery says A soulmate is someone who you carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did, or when no one else would.
I had yet to see or experience what Dawson described first hand.
I don't deny that many people around the world have found their significant other.
But I do state, that depending on the individual, the various ways one finds out who is their soulmate makes the chances of two people finding their perfect match slimmer as the world progresses into the Future.
The most common is matching marks, the second common is colorblindness until you look into your soulmate's eyes, the third is the first words you say to one another etched on your skin since birth, the least common is feeling another pain when you're not the one contracting the injury.
The rarest, the most uncommon way of knowing the person in front of you is your soulmate is where you hear a duet song in your head, and your partner knows the lyrics.
Only one percent of the population hears a song in their head, and lucky me, I was a part of that one percent.
I don't let it show, not even when the song is constantly playing in my head.
My own parents don't know.
The only people that know the truth, are my brother and our close friends.
They're the people I confide in the most, tell my dreams to.
Which is why they know that I pursue archery because it makes me happy, and helps me clear my head.
Most people assume it's because I have a mark that's an archers bow, or that I'm color blind, or words are etched into my skin and the chances of meeting my soulmate is higher because of all the people that come to watch archers compete.
Seeing who will take home the trophy and the title of the Master Archer.

My opponent from Germany was good, Amie had it a bullseye, in every target and I would need to hit a bullseye in the same spot to win.
The judge said as Amie's supporters cheered her on.
"Amie has hit a bullseye in every target, she has yet to have met her match in competitions in the past.
(The judge then said as everyone turned to look at me after I finished sipping my water.)
The same can be said to our rising star Y/n L/n, a newcomer that's blown all away since she came here.
(I stood up and the judge said.)
She'll need to ace every shot in order to win the title.
(I stood in front of the first target as the judge asked the crowd.)
The only question remains, will she be able to do what no one has done before?
Who will be this year's Master Archer"?
I took a breath and stared at the target, my nerves began to rise.
So I did what I did whenever this happened, I closed my eyes and focused on the sound of a song playing in my head since I was 5.
'Far longer than Forever,
I'll hold you in my heart.
(After the song began, I felt like he was listening to me and nerves melted away.)
It's almost like your here with me,
Although we're far apart'.
I tightened my right hand on my bow as I took a breath.
I opened my eyes, then I fired my first arrow.
It soared through the air and I didn't stay in the same place, I fired and fired as I kept moving.
I stopped in front of the last target and I watched as my arrow flew through the air hitting the last target.
The sound of the metal from the arrow head makes contact with the wood made by my steady heart beat race.

That's when I looked to see how I was with the other five targets.
That's when I noticed everything was silent, the sound of my own heart beat raced.
The instrumental melody of the sound playing as I counted the bullseyes I have.
'One, Two, Three, Four, Five,
(I looked to my last target and my eyes grew wide.)
Six'.
That's when I noticed that the crowd held a baited breath before erupting into a thunderous applause.
The judge sitting behind the desk, with many of the nationals from other countries translating what she was saying, spoke with so much excitement that she was practically screaming.
"She did it!
She did it!
6 bullseyes, straight through Amie's arrows,
Ladies and gentlemen this year's Master Archer goes to Y/n L/n"!
