A few months after such event occurred, things were back to normal in the Park Household. Aera went back to school, hanging out with Dae and Hanni like usual. And as if luck came into his life, Elijah finally gained a few friends of his own. He would go over to their houses or they would come over to his. They would play video games, study together, or just have brotherly conversations like boys did.

As for Aera and her crush on Hanni, it had only grown stronger since they met all those months ago. Hanni used to be so shy and timid around her, but now she was more comfortable than ever.
Sure, she had her shy moments here and there. But, compared to when they first met, she had finally found someone she could relax around. Someone she didn't feel judge by or mistreated. Someone...she found herself having feelings for.

Aera was different from anyone else she had met or been friends with. She was chill, sweet, a goofball at times. But most of all, she was nothing but supportive of Hanni transitioning. Like going to clothing stores with her because she had terrible social anxiety when shopping for herself.
Or helping her take her testosterone shots when she needed to. Even when they weren't together, Aera FaceTimed the girl so she wouldn't be alone when poking herself with the small needle.

And that's when Hanni finally realized it, she was starting to fall for the girl. But, that scared her. Even if she knew Aera would never ever hurt her, she was still so paranoid. So, she thought hiding how she felt was the best for now.

________

Aera and Hanni were upstairs in her room, Aera doing her makeup for fun as they made fun conversation.

"And now I just have to add some lip gloss", she began to code her lips, making a rubbing motion with hers so Hanni would copy it.

"Mhm, strawberry", Hanni teased as she rubbed her lips together. "Aish don't eat it!", Aera laughed. She let her look in the mirror, grinning at how pretty she looked.

"You look beautiful, Hanni-shii", Aera praised as she admired her work herself. She was getting a bit better at makeup, her mama was the real professional and taught her everything she knows.

"Thank you for doing this...I-I'm still learning how to do makeup by myself. I would ask my eomma but I haven't had the courage to", she admitted, a bit embarrassed.

"Well that's okay, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Besides, now you have your own noona stylists", Aera winked teasingly. Hanni laughed shyly at her words, continuing to look at herself in the mirror.
She didn't realize how much more her features blossom with makeup, even without it. She could see her collarbone was a bit more slender but noticeable like a female. Her chest was still flat but she knew they would nice and plump after her surgery.

"Here, let's take pictures!", Aera suggested as she pulled out her Polaroid camera. It sat in dust since last year's Christmas since she never had the chance to use it, but now was the perfect opportunity.

They toke majority of them on her bed, laying down and making silly faces at the camera as the flasher went off. They giggled just looking at them, even taking some with big smiles.

Hanni glanced at Aera, smiling fondly at how happy she looked.

How pretty she looked.

She was hesitant about the action, but she leaned in, pressing a soft kiss on her cheek. It made Aera gasped softly, surprised from the sudden move. Though, she didn't think she could make the first move herself.

Hanni suddenly sat up, panicked from what she just did. "I-I'm so sorry! I don't know what got into me", she apologized, hiding the sudden blush appearing on her face.

Aera sat up with her, placing her hand in Hanni's. "I...I actually really liked it", she confessed. Hanni looked at her with hopeful eyes, almost adoration. Aera laid her hand on the side of her face, leaning in slowly. Hanni did the same, their lips finally crashing together.

They loved how close they felt, how their lips collided so well with each other. The two girls made the softest of sounds, Aera laying her hand on her waist and Hanni laying hers on her shoulders.

They eventually pulled away, looking at each with shy smiles as their foreheads touched. Aera rubbed at Hanni's cheek with her thumb, not wanting this sweet moment to end.

"I really like you", Aera confessed, seeing Hanni become happy at her confession. You could see her eyes shinning with adoration, wanting nothing more than to confess the same thing.

"I really like you too", she replied, leaning in for one more kiss.

It went unnoticed, but Elijah had seen the entire thing. He was surprised to say the least, and he was majorly confused. But, he closed the door quietly anyway and headed downstairs.

_________

Later that day, Hanni had left and Aera made her way down to her Appa's training room at his job. She hadn't been there since the tragic event toke place a few months ago. She could still remember how scared she felt, that they wouldn't make it out alive.

She put on her light pink boxing gloves, her helmet stable on her head. She was faced with the  punching box once again, letting punch after punch go. The harder she punched, the angrier she got. Her father's words repeating in her head over and over again.

"It's best if this is something you don't pursue right now".

Tears started to stream down her cheeks, letting out sobs of pain as she stopped after one last punch.

"Little blossom? What are you doing here?", Jimin asked, but his face softened seeing his daughter crying.

"It's not fair", she spoke, her voice small from the crying.

"What do you mean, love?", he asked, slightly confused.

"Why can't I do what you do Appa?", She replied, more tears leaving her eyes.

"Oh, flower", Jimin toke off her helmet carefully, seeing tears streaming down her pinkish cheeks.

He sighed worryingly, wiping some of the tears away with his thumbs. "You are an amazing, brave young woman. And I know the older you get, the more independent you'll be. But, what Appa is something he risks his life for sometimes. He's lucky to still be alive honestly", Jimin chuckled. "I promised I would keep you and your brother safe, so right now I think it's best you don't focus on this right now okay?".

Aera hated it, but she agreed anyways. Jimin smiled small, bringing her into a comforting hug.
"How about you focus on your recital coming? It's on Saturday isn't it?".

Aera nodded, trying her best to look excited about the event.

But, it was something she had to do.

Pretend.
